WWE News: RVD on turning down WWE's return offer, being at odds with Triple H

At 45, RVD says that he is still physically fit to compete in WWE

The former WCW and ECW Champion Rob Van Dam did a Q&A with the Buzzards Wrestling Podcast and discussed many topics. When asked about his retirement RVD said that he wasn’t exactly working for the love of the business at this point

“I’m not looking to do much more in wrestling, but at the same time, I don’t really see a big advantage in retiring. Don’t know, really, if you are gonna see the end of my wrestling career real soon. I know, physically, I still feel as good as I have in like the last 20 years.

“But, honestly, everyone else in the dressing room wants it more than me. They do, and that’s an issue. Because they’re all 22 and they’re all so excited to be there - and I can’t wait to get out of there and get some dinner afterwards. It’s been like that for a long, long time”.

RVD then talked about a possible WWE Hall of Fame induction and says although it's possible he’s not sure how likely it is. The fans say, “when are we gonna see you in the Hall of Fame?”

“First off, it’s not up to me. I mean, I have no inside information. Second off, Hunter - Triple H - is the boss of WWE, and I really can’t tell you if that’s in his vision. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s not. I don’t think he’s ever seen me as someone he thought should be pushed forward. I think every achievement I got was in spite of him and people that think like him. And like I said, I’m an exception. I’m not the traditional, stereotype that they’re looking for. I get that. I get that.”

RVD made his WWE return in July 2013 after a six-year absence and participated at the Money in the Bank PPV for a future shot at the World championship. After the match against Alberto Del Rio at Battleground PPV, he went on a hiatus and missed the rest of 2013 as well as the road to WrestleMania 30.

He returned to the WWE again and challenged for the Intercontinental Championship. RVD finished his run with the company in an appearance at the 2014 Slammy awards to hand out the winner of the Extreme Moment of the Year.

On a possible WWE return, the 45-year-old revealed that WWE contacted him last year for a return to participate in the angle featuring The Dudley Boyz vs The Wyatt Family. As seen, the roles offered to him eventually went to Tommy Dreamer and Rhyno. The six-time Intercontinental Champion added that WWE did not offer him the kind of money it would take to return.
