What’s the story?
On a recent edition of his podcast Conversation With The Big Guy, Ryback opened up on a myriad of topics.
Most prominently, Ryback recalled a funny encounter he had with Kane backstage in WWE, besides revealing how Kane truly is behind the scenes. Ryback also addressed the possibility of him returning to the WWE.
In case you didn’t know…
Ryback performed for the WWE from 2004 until his departure from the promotion in 2016.

On the other hand, Glenn Jacobs portrayed a few gimmicks in the WWE from 1995 until he debuted a new character, Kane, in 1997.
The heart of the matter
Ryback asserted that he’s happy for Kane who’s following his dreams in the world of politics; adding that Kane is well-respected and liked by everyone backstage. Ryback continued that Kane is one of his favourite people and a good family man, who intelligent, well-spoken, articulate and moves very well considering his age and size.
Additionally, Ryback narrated a funny story about him receiving business advice from Kane in the WWE locker room. Ryback pointed out the fact that he and Kane were literally in their wrestling gear discussing investments in gold, silver and engaging in stock market talk.
“The Big Guy” noted that their aforementioned exchange should’ve been filmed, as people cannot fathom what goes on backstage in a WWE locker room. Ryback also spoke about possibly returning to WWE—
"Right now, I left for the reasons I left. I am doing the things that I want to do," he said. "The health thing was a very big thing, so it's no surprise as I have mentioned time and time again. I have a new body. I am getting a second chance and learning from my past mistakes of the injuries that I have accumulated over the years. I have literally rebuilt myself at 36 and have felt the best that I have in years.”
Furthermore, Ryback explained that there haven’t been any discussions, neither on his nor WWE’s end, regarding his return. Ryback added that his main aim right now is to grow his business & brand, which will ensure that he doesn’t have to use his body to earn a living later in life.
What’s next?
Ryback wrestles sporadically on the independent professional wrestling circuit, however, is rebuilding his fitness as of this time, and plans on working a more regular schedule in the indies, in the near future.
Meanwhile, Kane is running for Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee, and should he win the elections later this year, he’s likely to step away from in-ring competition in the WWE.
Author’s take
Ryback is incredibly strong, however, per his accounts, putting on excessive muscle mass by lifting heavy seems to have aggravated his injuries.
Apparently, Ryback is now learning to work with his newly acquired leaner body, and here’s hoping he achieves success in the years to come.
Besides, how can someone not like “The Big Red Machine”—professionalism personified.
