What’s the story?
Sami Zayn has taken to social media, issuing a response to SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan’s statement that he isn’t booked well on the show.
In reference to Bryan’s recent statements wherein the blue brand’s General Manager had insinuated that Zayn’s run on the WWE’s Tuesday night show hasn’t worked out as well as one would hope; the Underdog from the Underground issued a rather short and sweet reply:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
In case you didn’t know…
Sami Zayn, whose real name is Rami Sebei, is widely regarded as one of the best in-ring performers in the professional wrestling business today.
Zayn gained notoriety in the business for his incredible performances on the indie circuit and then performed for NXT from 2013-16, following which he ascended to the main roster of the WWE.
The heart of the matter:
Several professional wrestling pundits and fans have been criticizing the WWE, stating that management has been failing the Canadian Superstar by mismanaging his brand on SmackDown Live; poor bookings replete with lack of TV time.
Speaking of which, SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan did indeed accept the fact that Zayn’s run on the main roster has been less than desirable, so to speak.
Apparently, Zayn took note of Bryan’s aforementioned comments, and the proud Syrian-Canadian representative concurred with the general notion of him being poorly booked on SmackDown.
What’s next?
Sami Zayn presently performs for the WWE’s SmackDown brand. As of this writing, he is yet to be booked in a major storyline on the blue brand.
Author’s take
Sami Zayn is an extremely talented performer however the man’s on-screen character needs a serious revamp.
His character seems to be missing the spark it initially had, say during his rivalry with Kevin Owens. The WWE needs to book him well and insert him into a half-decent storyline, at the very least, so as to get the Sami Zayn brand going once again.
