WWE News: Samoa Joe comments on not being a part of Wrestlemania and a potential match with Brock Lesnar

Samoa Joe signed with Monday Night RAW one week after attacking Seth Rollins

What’s the story?

Samoa Joe recently appeared on Chris Jericho’s podcast, Talk is Jericho. Joe spoke about a number of issues on the podcast including his transition from NXT to WWE, his debut on RAW and not being able to perform at Wrestlemania this year.

In case you didn’t know...

Samoa Joe paid his dues before going to the WWE. During his stint at ROH and TNA, he put on some incredible matches with the likes of CM Punk, AJ Styles, and Kurt Angle. He then made his way to NXT where he won the NXT Championship two times before joining the main roster.

The heart of the matter

When Jericho asked Joe if there were any plans for him heading into Wrestlemania, the former NXT Champion said that many ideas were being thrown around, but none of them materialised into a match. The 38-year-old told Jericho that he was gutted when he came to know that he would not be taking to the ring at Wrestlemania. However, he also said that watching the event made him appreciate the amount of work that went into producing the show.

Joe also teased the possibility of a match with Brock Lesnar. He said that the WWE would mint a lot of money if they inserted him into a feud with The Beast Incarnate.

What’s next?

Joe will face Seth Rollins at WWE Payback in the first match of their heated rivalry. Brock Lesnar is currently on hiatus, but he is expected to face Braun Strowman in July or August. However, the Beast will require credible opponents in the future, so don't be surprised if he locks horns with the Destroyer in the near future.

Author's take

It was a surprise to many in the WWE Universe when it became clear that Samoa Joe would not be a part of the Wrestlemania extravaganza. There were some rumours of a run-in during the match between Triple H and Seth Rollins but that did not happen either.

However, Joe has been strongly pushed and protected for most of his tenure on RAW. It is certain that the former two-time NXT Champion will make a big impact on the main roster in the years to come and have some high-profile clashes at major WWE pay-per-views.
