What's the story?
This Thursday, the Monday Night Raw roster will travel to Abu Dhabi for a WWE Live event. Something historic will happen on this night as the WWE Raw Women's Champion Alexa Bliss will take on "The Boss" Sasha Banks.
In case you didn't know...
The past 12 months for the women is full of first's highlighted by the first ever Hell In A Cell Match and Money In The Bank Ladder Match. There is the potential of more first's in the women's division coming up with rumours of a Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber match.
The heart of the matter
The reason this match in Abu Dhabi is historic is that this will be the first ever WWE women's match in the country. The freedom and progress of the society in general for Abu Dhabi is the catalyst for having a high-profile women's match featured on the card.
The acceptance of women in different roles within the country has changed over the course of the few years, and this opens the door for not only women to be featured on a WWE Live event, but it could inspire those fans to pursue a career in professional wrestling.
What's next?
The event in Abu Dhabi is just a couple of days away, and stay tuned to Sportskeeda for coverage of the live event on Thursday.
As for the women of Monday Night Raw, they are currently having an Absolution problem. With Raw heading to Cleveland, Ohio next week, will anyone stand up to Paige, Mandy Rose, and Sonya Deville? Or will they continue to get run over?
Author's take...
I think this is a great moment for the women of the WWE and the women of Abu Dhabi. The acceptance of women in pro wrestling in India helped the WWE discover Kavita Devi, who competed in the Mae Young Classic last summer.
Devi is the first Indian woman to ever compete in a WWE ring, and it's possible this match between Sasha and Alexa could help the WWE discover someone in Abu Dhabi like they did with Devi.
