What's the Story?
Sasha Banks & Bayley were favorites to win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships, but the duo may not get that chance following the latest update from WWE.
Banks re-aggravated a shoulder injury on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw and her current status for the pay-per-view this Sunday is unknown.
In case you didn't know
Banks and Bayley competed in a triple threat tag team match against Nia Jax & Tamina and Sarah Logan & Liv Morgan on Monday, but Bayley did the majority of the wrestling for her team.
The shoulder injury seemed to be aggravated after the Riott Squad threw Banks into the barricade towards the end of the match.
The heart of the matter
Banks' suffered an injury in her title match with Ronda Rousey at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view and has not played an active role in any match she's participated in since.
The earliest reports said that her injury wasn't as bad as fellow Raw superstar Seth Rollins, who won't be wrestling at the upcoming pay-per-view. However, the latest update from WWE suggests that Banks' injury has worsened.
Banks & Bayley were among the favorites to win the Women's Tag Team Championships, but Banks' injury may result in her being sidelined for an extended period of time.
Bayley suffered a shoulder injury back in 2017 following a match from Nia Jax and was unable to wrestle at the SummerSlam pay-per-view later that year.
What's next?
Banks & Bayley were scheduled to start the elimination chamber match against Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville, but Banks' injury could result in some major changes to the women's tag team chamber match.
Banks could end up replaced by another WWE Superstar if the injury is severe enough, or WWE may end up replacing the team with another pairing, but that is pure speculation.
