What's the story?

Seth Rollins defeated The Miz on this week's episode of Monday Night Raw. He was later interviewed by Renee Young backstage and he laid down a challenge for The Miz and his Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania.

In case you didn't know...

It was The Miz who enticed the reunion of The Shield back in 2017 before Dean Ambrose was injured and the former teammates once again went their separate ways, but it seems that Rollins hasn't forgotten.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Rollins also hasn't forgotten that he is the only member of The Shield who hasn't won the Intercontinental Championship and it is the only title that is preventing him from becoming a Grand Slam Champion.

Rollins opponent at WrestleMania has changed a few times over the past few months with Ambrose's injury causing WWE to re-write his storylines and bring in Jason Jordan instead. Jordan's injury has since forced WWE to push Seth in recent weeks to the point now where it seems that he could be facing both The Miz and Finn Balor at WrestleMania.

The heart of the matter

Seth Rollins challenged The Miz to a match for his Intercontinental Championship this week on Raw as it seems that The Architect could be set to take on The Miz and Finn Balor in a triple threat match for the Championship in less than six weeks' time.

Balor stepped up to The Miz after he had been defeated by Rollins and it now has many fans believing that Balor could be added to the match in the near future as well as part of his first ever WrestleMania match.

What's next?

There are less than six weeks now to WrestleMania and Miz is still yet to accept Rollins' challenge but it also leaves plenty of time for Balor to be added to the match and continue to build a feud between Miz and Rollins.

Author's take

Rollins has had a lot of bad luck when it comes to his WrestleMania opponents and it became well known that WWE had to rescript his match for the biggest event of the year.

Even though this is obviously a fallback option, it's a fantastic one and it will allow the three men who started the Elimination Chamber match on Sunday night to fight it out to become Intercontinental Champion. Miz is 62 days away from becoming the longest reigning Champion but WrestleMania is now only 41 days away.
