What’s the story?
With WWE heading to Australia this month, there’s one very noticeable name that isn’t currently slated to feature on the tour. At the time of writing, Seth Rollins isn’t advertised for any of the company’s three scheduled dates, despite being one-half of the Raw Tag Team Champions, and despite his partner, Dean Ambrose, being listed for each of those shows.
In case you didn’t know…
WWE’s Raw brand is set to tour Australia this month, with three back-to-back dates set for Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane between the 14th and 16th of September.
Most of the brand’s marquee names are scheduled to feature, including Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, the Hardy Boyz and more. Even Kurt Angle’s set to be there as General Manager, in what’s being advertised as his first live appearance down under in over a decade.
Going in depth
As well as those three Australian dates, WWE is also headed to Christchurch, NZ on September 13, where Rollins’ partner Ambrose is set to feature in a number one contender’s Battle Royal for a shot at the Miz’s Intercontinental title.
If that’s anything to go by, it's entirely plausible that Ambrose will be booked in the same role for those three subsequent Australian dates, which only adds more weight to the possibility of Rollins being off the tour entirely.
What's next?
Given that the Australian dates are live events, it’s unlikely that Rollins’ apparent absence will mean too much with regards to the bigger picture. Expect to see him and Ambrose back in tag team action on Raw the following week, when the brand returns to US soil in San Jose.
Author’s take
Again, given that this is just a live event tour, it’s probably not worth reading too much into this news. As disappointing as it is for Australian fans, there’s plenty of other talent set to feature on the tour.
Plus, with 84 matches under his belt this year already, and having re-injured his knee back in January, I doubt anyone would begrudge Rollins a few days’ respite — presuming it's respite he'll be getting.
