The heart of the matter
In this week’s episode of Talking Smack, Erick Rowan wandered onto the set and requested a match at Backlash against his former brother Luke Harper. Before making his enquiry he presented the talk show’s host Renee Young with a balloon, only to pop it later.
He then proceeded to confront SmackDown Live commissioner Shane McMahon on the subject of Luke Harper's punishment.
He stated that ‘Lucas’ deserved a harsher ‘punishment’ and requested a match at Backlash against him. Rowan continued, saying that the match was not only what he wanted, but was what Harper and “his friends in the sack” desired.
Shane decided to comply with Rowan’s request and granted him a match at Backlash, which ‘Big Red’ greatly appreciated.
What’s next?
As Shane McMahon announced, the WWE Universe can look forward to a one-on-one match between Erick Rowan and his former brethren Luke Harper. The two fought each other quite a bit during the European tour and while the match may not be something as spectacular as a main event title match, it will still be fun to watch.
Author’s take
The matches that the two had during the WWE Live European tour were hard-hitting and well-fought matches which had their own unique form of entertainment. Hopefully, the two former members of the Wyatt family can bring out that same excitement in their match at Backlash.
