What's the story?
With so many members of the WWE roster from top to bottom, a decent amount of superstars often get overlooked or under-pushed.
Several wrestlers have mentioned as much in the past, such as when CM Punk dropped his pipebomb and more recently when Seth Rollins gave props to the Revival.
Since he wrestles with many of them on a daily to weekly basis, former United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura has an opinion on a lot of his coworkers whom he feels are underrated.
Wrestlingnews.co provided some of his interview with Sports Illustrated where the 'King of Strong Style' threw some love towards his fellow wrestlers.
In case you missed it...
When wrestlers are often interviewed by news outlets, they are usually asked about their fellow superstars. The questions can usually range from who do you think is the best, who do you want to wrestle, who would you like to see come to WWE and apparently, who do you think are underrated superstars.
With three hours of Raw and two hours of Smackdown, one would think it would be easy to get all the superstars on screen, but it's a lot harder than we fans think.
Since not every wrestler gets TV time, a lot of what they can do is shown on various house shows, live events or lesser watched programs like Main Event.
The heart of the matter...
Nakamura might not have captured a major WWE Championship during his first few years in WWE, but he's usually provided us with good matches.
He doesn't get to wrestle a lot of superstars on Smackdown, but that doesn't mean he isn't impressed by some of the stars who don't get on television as much as someone like Randy Orton or AJ Styles.
“Honestly, most people in WWE are underrated. I can choose so many people. They have so much ability but can’t show everything on TV. Everybody has a great ability to wrestle, and you can see that at the house shows. Tye Dillinger, Shelton Benjamin, Primo and Epico, the Bludgeon Brothers, the New Day, they’re all underrated.”
Everyone that Nakamura mentioned rarely makes it on Smackdown save for the New Day, so it's not surprising for a fellow superstar to commend his coworkers.
The report also mentioned that Nakamura said in the interview that he hopes to get back into the WWE Title picture this year. His current deal with WWE is slated to end in early to mid-2019.
What's next?
Nakamura is likely to either get his rematch at the Royal Rumble or on an upcoming episode of Smackdown. He will also likely be a participant in the 30-man match. He won the event last year and announcers will likely play up that he'll want to repeat.
It's always refreshing to hear other wrestler's commend some of the superstars who aren't on TV weekly. Everyone works their butts off, but we as fans don't get to see every superstar do so.
