What’s the story?
While everyone is busy with the upcoming Royal Rumble and the matches scheduled at the Pay-per-view, WWE have dropped a piece of shocking news out of nowhere. Aiden English is now set to be a part of 205 Live's commentary team!
In case you didn’t know…
English has been off screen for some time now. He was last seen in the 'One Night in Milwaukee' feud with Rusev but since losing to the Bulgarian brute, he has not made a single appearance on TV.
However, he has been active in the Live Events and was in action over the weekend too. He took on Jimmy Uso and lost on both occasions.
The heart of the matter
WWE have announced that Aiden English will be joining the 205 Live commentary team with immediate effect. While he will be a commentator on the cruiserweight show, he will remain an active superstar on SmackDown Live as well.
“The McMahons have been shaking things up on Raw and SmackDown LIVE, so I’m going to follow suit. Aiden English is an active Superstar and is very opinionated, and I believe those opinions and perspective will add to the current commentary team, only adding to the entertainment value of The Most Exciting Hour of Television,” said Maverick.
Michael Cole also shared his thoughts on the news and said, “We wanted to do something special for WrestleMania season, and Royal Rumble week kicks off the Road to WrestleMania. We’ve been working with Aiden at the WWE Performance Center to see if he has the chops, and it turns out he’s pretty good.”
What’s next?
English will be making his commentary debut on tonight's episode of 205 Live, immediately following SmackDown Live. We wish him the best of luck for his new role and can't wait to see him give his insights during the matches.
