What's the story?
Shane McMahon is 'The Best in the World' after winning the World Cup Tournament at WWE Crown Jewel and The Miz is the 'Most Must See Superstar in Sports Entertainment' and together they are the 'Best Tag Team In The World'. And they'll be facing The Bar at the Royal Rumble for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles.
In case you didn't know...
The Miz turned face around the same time that Daniel Bryan turned on AJ Styles and became heel and has subsequently spent his time trying to get Shane McMahon to be his tag-team partner.
Shane McMahon eventually relented and agreed to be Miz' tag-team partner last week, but I don't think anyone would have expected the unlikely pairing to get a title shot so soon.
The heart of the matter
It all came about on the January 8th edition of SmackDown Live when The Bar had just stolen a win against The Usos when Mandy Rose walked out in a towel to distract Jimmy and continue her storyline with Naomi.
The Miz then confronted The Bar in the ring and challenged Sheamus and Cesaro to a match with him and Shane McMahon for the titles at Royal Rumble
Afterwards, The Miz and Shane McMahon discussed their chances of beating The Bar backstage. I've got to be honest, I think I really like this pairing and why can't they win? They are 'The Best Tag Team In The World.'
What's next?
The Miz and Shane McMahon storyline has certainly been an odd one, but if it ends with them becoming unlikely tag-team champions against the objectively better and more experienced The Bar then I'm here for it.
I'm not really sure what the end game is here though. Do Miz and Shane McMahon genuinely become a good tag-team and friends?
