From the WWE Rumour Mill: Summer Rae teases return to in-ring action?

Summer Rae has been gone for almost a year, is a return on the horizon?
Summer Rae has been gone for almost a year, is a return on the horizon?

What's the story?

WWE Superstar Summer Rae took to Twitter on Tuesday night to offer a word of warning to the women of the WWE that she might be close to making an in-ring return. Take a look at her tweet below:

In case you didn't know...

Summer Rae made her main roster debut on an April 2013 edition of Monday Night Raw as the dance partner for the debuting Fandango. The pairing lasted a little over a year before Summer turned on Fandango at the end of June 2014.

The heart of the matter

Summer Rae has not wrestled in the WWE since a July 2016 appearance on WWE Superstars where she defeated Alicia Fox. Summer was dealing with several injuries affecting her neck, back, and elbow.

It was reported that the WWE cleared Summer to return to in-ring competition back in May, but the WWE just hasn't found the right spot for her return. In last year's WWE Draft, Summer went to Monday Night Raw, but it is unknown if that will be the brand she returns to at the time of this writing.

One can assume that Summer is wishing to rip the hair off of some of the women currently in the WWE, judging by the 'wig glue' comment, teasing a more violent Summer Rae than we're used to.

What's next?

According to Summer's tweet, she mentioned that the women of the WWE have a day and a half warning. It is possible her return to the ring could be at Thursday's WWE Live event in Buenos Aires, Argentina, however that is a SmackDown LIVE brand show.

Author's take

Much like Eva Marie, Summer Rae worked very hard to get better in the ring but was set back after having to deal with several injuries in the past couple of years.

I'm excited to see her back in the WWE and see what she can add to either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown LIVE.
