What’s the story?
Prior to last night’s episode of Smackdown Live, former Raw Tag Team Champions Sheamus and Cesaro—The Bar—made their unofficial in-ring debut for the blue brand, when they competed in a dark match before Smackdown went on-air.
In case you didn’t know…
Having lost the Raw Tag Team Championships to Braun Strowman and 10-year-old Nicholas at WrestleMania 34, The Bar was in a desperate need of a change in the landscape before they got drafted over to the blue brand, as part of the 2018 WWE Superstar Shake-up.
The heart of the matter
As noted, on this week’s edition of Smackdown Live, both Sheamus and Cesaro made their on-screen debut on the blue brand where they were involved in a hilarious backstage segment with former Smackdown Live Tag Team Champions, The New Day.
However, prior to their initial appearance on Smackdown Live, The Bar did compete in their first ever match in a Smackdown Live ring, when they competed and lost a tag team match to The New Day as Kofi Kingston pinned Cesaro for the win.
Also, this dark match probably sums up the reason why The New Day and The Bar were involved in a backstage altercation later in the evening and could potentially be a sign of things to come as well.
What’s next?
The Bar is currently slated to challenge the duo of ‘Woken’ Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt for the vacated Raw Tag Team Titles at The Greatest Royal Rumble event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
However, there is now a very strong chance that we could possibly witness a feud between The Bar and The New Day, upon Sheamus and Cesaro’s official TV debuts on Smackdown Live.
Author’s Take
Personally, I feel a feud against The New Day will be a great start for both Sheamus and Cesaro on Smackdown Live and the two teams are definitely capable of putting some amazing back-and-forth matches..
