What’s the story?
On this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, The Miz went toe-to-toe with Roman Reigns. “The Big Dog” did manage to defeat the Intercontinental champion after hitting a spear, but the action was not just over yet.
After the match, The Miztourage decided to jump Roman Reigns and put a beatdown on him in the middle of the ring. Miz and his associates would then go on to mock The Shield by putting their fists together, as they stood tall over Roman Reigns’ body.
In case you didn’t know…
This week’s episode of Raw started off with an episode of MizTV, where The Miz interviewed Roman Reigns, who was fresh off his victory against John Cena at No Mercy.
During the opening segment, The Miz suggested that if The Miztourage existed 5 years ago, then they would have given The Shield a run for their money. Roman Reigns laughed off this suggestion, and Kurt Angle eventually booked a match between The Big Dog and The A-Lister for later in the night.
The heart of the matter
During the bout, Roman Reigns managed to overcome the numbers game even though Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel constantly kept interfering in the match. Reigns would then go on to defeat the IC champ and pin him clean in the middle of the ring.
After the match, it did not take long for Axel, Dallas and Miz to regroup and assault Reigns. The Big Dog ate numerous chair shots, courtesy of the trio, and The Miz followed it up with a Skull Crushing Finale.
Miztourage was then on their way to the back when the fans started yelling “Shield” which only enraged The Miz who decided to head back into the ring along with his cohorts. The group then followed it up with more chair shots on Reigns, before the Intercontinental champion decided to hit a second Skull Crushing Finale, this time on the chair. Miz, Dallas, and Axel stood tall over the former WWE champion’s body and joined their fists, mocking The Shield.
What’s next?
As of right now, a match between The Miztourage and The Shield is on the cards. The Shield made their main roster debut 5 years ago at Survivor Series, so it would make sense for the group to reunite for one evening and have a match with The Miz, Dallas and Axel.
Author’s take
A Shield reunion at this year’s Survivor Series would be incredible. Personally, I wanted to see Shield face a much more credible trio, but it is clear that WWE would want The Shield to pick up a decisive win at Survivor Series.
