What's the story?
Summer Rae, who made her WWE television debut on April 22, 2013, as the dance partner and valet of Fandango, was released by the WWE on October 29, 2017, after being out of action for some time. A lot of speculation surrounded her release and it seems that the true reason for her being let go is out.

Before joining the WWE, Summer Rae worked with the 'Lingerie Football League' before leaving for the world's largest wrestling promotion in 2011.

She also served as the NXT Ring announcer for some time before making her main roster debut.
Summer made her debut on WWE along with Fandango. An exceptional dancer, Summer, along with Fandango was a part of a dance-off against Chris Jericho and his 'dancing with the stars' partner.
She continued to be a valet through her initial run but developed into an active wrestler later on in her career. After her split with Fandango, she had a brief feud with him and his new dance partner Layla.
Summer Rae languished on the roster from 2014 to 2017, not accomplishing anything significant. One of the noticeable programs Summer was a part of recently was as the on-screen love interest of Rusev after he had split with Lana for a brief period.
The heart of the matter
It is believed that when Summer was signed, the WWE saw the next Stacy Keibler in her; and they did try extremely hard to make her fill Stacy's shoes.
As per Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, the real reason for her release is that the WWE doesn't believe that the role they had envisioned for her can be performed at this point in her career.
What's next?
Although Summer has been 'future endeavoured' by the WWE, she has immense talent and it wouldn't be a surprise if she is able to reach new altar of success.
Summer can join Impact Wrestling or Women of Honor if she decides to pursue a career in pro-wrestling. She can also go on to follow other wrestlers who have joined the movie industry.
Author's take
Even though extremely talented, Summer was never utilized to the fullest by the WWE and it was only a matter of time before WWE released her. She never truly got a chance to shine and her release might just be a blessing in disguise.
It will be interesting to see what career path she chooses from here on.
