What's the story?
Following other Superstars like Rusev, Elias, Big E and Neville, another WWE Superstar will now go by only his first name. We learnt earlier today on SmackDown that from now on, WWE SmackDown star and former NXT Champion, Andrade 'Cien' Almas will only be known as Andrade going forward.
In case you didn't know...
Andrade 'Cien' Almas aka La Sombra signed with WWE in 2015 before going on to debut on NXT in 2016. However, even though he got off to a winning start, Almas' start to his WWE career wasn't ideal. It was only after he turned heel and paired with Zelina Vega that he really hit his true potential and there were even rumours that he wanted to leave the WWE prior to his heel turn.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Andrade hit the ground running and it culminated in him winning the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: War Games. He made his Royal Rumble debut in early January while still holding the NXT Championship and put in an impressive performance. After a 140-day reign as the NXT Champion, Almas lost the title to Aleister Black at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. He made his main roster debut on SmackDown in April.
The heart of the matter
We found out on WWE SmackDown that Andrade 'Cien' Almas will be becoming the latest WWE Superstar to lose the last part of his name and will only be known as Andrade after this.
What's next?
Andrade will be a part of the WWE Royal Rumble match in Phoenix, Arizona come January 27th. There are rumours that WWE could have big plans for Andrade at WrestleMania 35 in April. However, these are just rumours and we have to wait for more details.
