What’s the story?
WWE superstar and Executive Vice President of Talent Triple H has finally broken his silence regarding Chris Jericho’s decision to wrestle Kenny Omega in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Triple H reacted to the match during a podcast appearance for CBS Sports.
In case you did not know…
Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega are scheduled to face each other at Wrestle Kingdom 12. The build-up to the match has been great so far. Jericho recently appeared during NJPW's World Tag League Finals and left Omega busted open in the ring. The Cleaner then got one back at Jericho by attacking him during a press conference.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
As for Jericho’s decision to wrestle in NJPW, during a recent interview, Jericho noted that he did not ask WWE's permission to seal the deal with NJPW.
The heart of the matter
In his appearance on ‘In This Corner Podcast’ of CBS Sports, Triple H said that he is happy for Jericho, Omega, and NJPW.
I think it's great. Good for Chris. It's phenomenal. Good for Kenny, good for New Japan. We were aware. That was a conversation that was had.
The Game went on to add that Jericho is one of the greatest talents in the history of the wrestling business.
What’s next?
Wrestle Kingdom 12 is set to take place on January 4th, 2018 at the Tokyo Dome. The match between Omega and Jericho will indeed be the biggest attraction. Apart from this, an IWGP Heavyweight title match between Kazuchika Okada and Tetsuya Naito also serves as great offering from NJPW for the event.
Author’s take
Even if Triple H had any problem with Jericho for wrestling at New Japan, he was unlikely to reveal it publicly. For the time being, we can only believe what he told. Either way, he doesn't seem like he has a problem with it at all.
Nevertheless, the Omega vs. Jericho match is good for everyone involved and now that Triple H has come out supporting Jericho’s decision, it is going to kill off circulating rumours of WWE not being happy about it.
