What’s the story?
ESPN had Triple H on their sets for an exclusive one-on-one. Triple H was in his classic suit and tie and spoke about how the business had branched out over the past couple of years with NXT leading the path. The Executive Vice President for Talent, Live Events and Creative also spoke about the time when the top brass in the company wanted to get rid of Enzo Amore.
In case you didn’t know...
Over the past few years, Triple H has assumed a backstage role in handling creative issues and board meetings in the WWE, while maintaining occasional on-screen appearances.

Triple H has a great understanding of the business, and his watchful eyes have introduced the WWE Universe to the talents of a new generation of Superstars such as Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, Baron Corbin, Sasha Banks, and much more.
The heart of the matter
Hunter revealed that the trainers in the company were all for giving Enzo Amore the shaft. He said he told the members that Enzo was hugely charismatic and was worth a lot of money.
Triple H also mentioned that Dusty Rhodes echoed his views and they decided to stick with Enzo. He conceded that Enzo may not be the best in-ring performer, but he was worth his weight in gold when it came to cutting promos.
Hunter also spoke about recruiting talent from all around the globe.
The Cerebral Assassin also discussed the issue of stepping into the ring after a year. He said that all the cardio and diet in the world could not substitute the fact that he had not wrestled in almost a year. He claimed that it was difficult, and he was doing his best to put on a great match at the Ultimate Thrill Ride.
What’s next?
Triple H will once again shed the businessman persona and assume his crown as the King of Kings when he goes on to face Seth Rollins in a non-sanctioned match at WrestleMania. The feud has been a long time coming after Triple H betrayed Rollins on an episode of Monday Night RAW in August last year to crown Kevin Owens the new WWE Universal Champion.
Author's take
Triple H has always had a keen eye for upcoming talent in the business. NXT is his brainchild, and the success of the brand has a lot to do with the innovation Hunter brought about. It is no surprise that Hunter spotted that Enzo had a good chance of making it in the business.
Hunter has been working a few matches at house shows to get his rhythm back. He looks to be in great shape for his age and probably has a couple of more Wrestlemania matches to go before he decides to hang up his boots.
