What's the story?

Due to his popularity and iconic nature in pop culture and professional wrestling, the USA Network recently announced that Stone Cold Steve Austin will host an upcoming show on USA called "Straight Up Steve Austin". Fightful.com carried news of the USA Network's announcement.

In case you didn't know...

Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of the most popular professional wrestlers of all time. He occasionally appears in WWE for segments and has his own podcast. He'll get to add this new show to another show that he hosts, the Broken Skull Ranch Challenge, on CMT.

The heart of the matter

The USA Network, which currently airs both Raw and SmackDown, announced that they have picked up Austin's show, where he will interview a variety of guests. The show will be called "Straight Up Steve Austin" and it will debut on USA after Raw on August 12. A description of the show was released by USA.

In each episode, Austin and a celebrity guest swap stories about their lives and careers during one-of-a-kind custom-tailored adventures in different cities across America. In this unique interview format, there’s no studio, no couch and no cue cards -- just a straight-up good time and some good old-fashioned American fun.

They also announced a list of guests that will appear on the show including Becky Lynch, Country Singer Trace Adkins, Dale Earnhardt, Jr, Cleveland Browns' quarterback Baker Mayfield, comedian Gabriel Iglesias, actor and comedian Rob Riggle, and one of the stars of the prank show Impractical Jokers, Sal Vulcano.

Austin's show will now join a list of WWE-related shows that don't completely feature wrestling including Total Divas, Total Bellas and Miz & Mrs. USA also announced that there will be seven half-hour episodes in all.

What's next?

Austin should be a great host because he's usually a straight-shooter who doesn't beat around the bush when asking questions. One interesting aspect will be the 'activity' that he and his guests take part in during each episode.

If the first series of episodes is a success, then hopefully we'll get to see more of 'the Texas Rattlesnake' on USA instead of the scripted reality shows like those involving the Chrisleys.
