Cesaro and Sheamus are set to face off at Summerslam, in the first match of their "best of seven series" as announced by Raw General Manager Mick Foley. This "best of seven" series is happening for the first time in 11 years. It isn't a new concept, but it's not something that has happened very often either. To be exact, a "best of seven" has happened Thrice before, while there has been a "best of 5" at one point too. RULESThe rules are simple. The first person to get 4 wins is declared the winner of the series. Usually, these series always boil down to a 4-3 score to add intensity to the story being told. Also, it is common for the heel to score the first 3 victories, then the Babyface to make a comeback and even the scores. It must be noted that the heel usually would come out of the series victorious.HISTORY
The first ever "best of seven" series was in NWA between Magnum TA and Nikita Koloff for the vacant United States Heavyweight championship, which was stripped off Magnum TA. Nikita Koloff won this series 4-3.The next was in WCW in 1998, in a feud between Booker T and Chris Benoit for the WCW television championship, which was won by Booker T 4-3.
There was a best of five series that happened in a feud between The Hardyz and Edge & Christian, where the Hardys played the heels. The prize of the series was the service of Terri Runnels and also a 100,000$. This feud saw the first ever tag ladder match which was won by The Hardyz, thus ending their feud. In fact, this idea was pitched by the talent themselves and was originally scheduled to be a best of seven, but was decided to be a best of five instead.

The third best of seven series and fourth "best of" series took place again between Booker T and Chris Benoit to become the undisputed united States champion. However, Booker T obtained an injury after he was 3-1 up in their series. He was thus replaced by Randy Orton, whom Benoit beat the next two matches to level the series 3-3. However, Randy Orton won the final match, thus becoming the undisputed united States champion
