What's the story?
Even though the Hype Bros seemed to be two peas in a pod, they couldn't pull off a big win. It seemed like Zack Ryder was just unlucky as he was injured in the same match where the Hype Bros became the #1 contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Since coming back, they hadn't been able to recapture that magic.
Mojo Rawley unloaded on SmackDown Live about why he decided to pull the plug on the Hype Bros in a pretty scathing promo.
In case you didn't know...
Mojo Rawley is friends with Rob Gronkowski, the New England Patriots Tight End. He namedrops Gronk whenever he can. In fact, WWE even got Gronk to interfere in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal that Mojo Rawley ended up winning.
The heart of the matter...
Mojo Rawley's promo was passionate and you could tell he meant business. This is a new life to his character and he needs to grab the bull by its horns. At this point, a calmer, but more fierce demeanor should take hold and push down the hype.
As Rawley spoke about how Ryder was holding him down for so long you could tell there was a fire underneath his words causing to boil out with intensity.
It was a pretty nice promo from the former Hype Bro and let's hope there are more like this to come.
Of course, no matter how good Mojo Rawley's promo was Zack Ryder cut an even better one on Twitter with much fewer words.
What's next?
Hopefully, Mojo Rawley will start to present a new persona in and out of the ring. But they certainly need to change his "stay hyped" entrance music in order to completely repackage him correctly. I would imagine CFO$ has a few songs they could pitch to WWE Creative if they decide to go all-in with a new Mojo Rawley.
Author's take
Whatever they do, let's hope WWE keeps his name the same. They're changing names way too often nowadays and we don't need his name to be shortened to "Mojo" or just "Rawley." It would be confusing and as a writer, I really hate having my opinions for proper nouns limited like that.
But to be honest, "Rawley" does sound like a pretty good name. They just need to keep him on SmackDown Live if they ever change his name to just his current last name because the last thing we need is a chance for WWE Creative to write, "you can't spell Rawley without Raw."
