The New Day got decimated in a brutal post-match attack by The Club on last week’s episode of Raw. They hammered all three members and ever beat down Xavier Woods in front of his parents who were at ringside. They ended the attack by grabbing Big E’s legs and pulling him into the ring-post, thereby ‘injuring’ his ‘deal’. WWE initially revealed the ‘injury’ earlier this week and you can read about that here.
In an update earlier today, WWE seemingly confirmed the injury although it is most probably part of their storyline with The Club. WWE’s statement said:
WWE.com can now confirm that Big E suffered a contusion to the affected area. It is unknown at this time when the WWE Tag Team Champion will return to in-ring competition.
At this point, it looks like Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston will have to defend the Tag-Team Championships at SummerSlam without Big E which makes it the ideal scenario for The Club who will no longer be outnumbered and with Big E out, The Club are now most definitely the favourites to win. The New Day are now on the longest WWE Tag-Team Championship reign of all time which began at last years’ SummerSlam.
