What’s the story?
The WWE has released an official statement on a major Survivor Series change.
The WWE is pushing a narrative of the ‘anything goes’ mantra and promoting the upcoming Tag Team ‘Champions vs Champions’ match as ‘The Uso Penitentiary vs Unbreakable Bar’ showdown.
In case you didn’t know…
This week’s episode of Monday Night RAW saw The New Day interfere in the RAW Tag Team Championships match, costing Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose their belts.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
As a result, new RAW Tag Team Champions, Sheamus & Cesaro (The Bar), will now face the blue brand’s title-holders, The Usos, at Survivor Series.
The heart of the matter
The WWE issued the following statement on the aforementioned shakeup to the Survivor Series 2017 card:
“They say that anything can happen in WWE, and Cesaro & Sheamus just proved that old chestnut right. Thanks to a surprise appearance by The New Day that threw Raw into chaos, the two-man wrecking crew commonly known as “The Bar” dethroned Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins as Raw Tag Team Champions, thereby swapping themselves in for The Shield in the epic Champion vs. Champion bout against SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos on Sunday, Nov. 19, at Survivor Series.”
“While the upset delays the long-awaited dream match that has been brewing since the summer on Twitter, it also changes the stakes in a major way for the two teams, both of whom have now notched multiple reigns this year alone. For Cesaro & Sheamus, on their third stint with Team Red’s titles, a match with The Usos (fresh off of trading title reigns with The New Day in a series of instant classics) is a chance to prove they are indeed the embodiment of excellence in WWE’s tag team division.”
Furthermore, the WWE’s statement emphasised that The Usos have been angling for a fight against the RAW Tag Team Champions since Wrestlemania 33, and now have a chance to prove they’re much more than simply big fish in the Team Blue pond, should the twins win ‘The Uso Penitentiary vs Unbreakable Bar’ matchup.
What’s next?
The SmackDown Live Tag Team Champions, The Usos, will compete against their RAW counterparts Sheamus & Cesaro (The Bar) at the WWE’s upcoming Survivor Series PPV which goes down at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on November 19th.
