Former TNA Champions Bobby Roode and Eric Young are by far the hottest free agents in the wrestling industry right now. After much speculation if the two would sign on the dotted line of a WWE contract, it has been established that both were approached by the company.
The source? None other than Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, according to allwrestlingnews.com. Meltzer reports that the WWE reached out to them through a go-between.
He went on to say that the WWE is more interested in Eric Young because they feel he is more versatile and could adapt to a range of characters. This could be the reason why Young said this a few days ago:
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
“Obviously, it’s (joining the WWE) a definite possibility. From the second that something was put up, of course, the parallels are being drawn and it’s something that’s definitely an option for me.
“The book is wide open and never in my career have I had that. I’ve always been a TNA guy. It’s exciting to say that I’m going to open another chapter. I’ve got a good foothold in pro wrestling and it’s cool to kind of be able to choose and have that ability because not everyone gets the choice. It’s a very cool thing, very flattering.”
If both Young and Roode do indeed sign a WWE contract, it will be interesting to see if they are used to fortify NXT or given meaty parts on the main roster.
