What’s the story?
As reported by the Wrestling Observer, the WWE has instructed ring announcer Greg Hamilton to refrain from pausing before uttering the phrase “one fall”.
Apparently, the WWE higher-ups want the announcing to only get the Superstars over rather than the announcer himself.
In case you didn’t know…
The WWE often resorts to a stringent approach when it comes to its presentation, and ring announcing is no different.

The announcers are usually given strict directives pertaining to their job, including a step-by-step guide of how to appropriately introduce the in-ring talent.
The heart of the matter
In reference to ring announcing in WWE today, Greg Hamilton seems to be pretty popular in the hardcore professional wrestling community with several fans and pundits praising him for his pacing while announcing matchups of varying magnitudes.
During the announcement, the fans chant the phrase ‘one fall’ when he takes a pause which, in turn, is now allegedly being perceived by WWE management as Hamilton getting over with the fans.
If one is to believe the rumblings in the pro-wrestling community, the WWE has now briefed Hamilton to omit the aforementioned pause during the introductions, owing to the fact that the higher-ups want the Superstars getting over with the fans and not the ring announcers.
What’s next?
It’ll be intriguing to see how Hamilton’s style of announcing changes over the next few weeks… that’s not to mention the style of the other announcers working for the promotion as well.
Author’s take
Well, most fans seem to genuinely enjoy Greg Hamilton’s style of introducing the Superstars.
Honestly speaking, the WWE may eventually let Hamilton revert back to his old style, especially when you consider the fact that the company is helmed by business-savvy people who will, at some point, realize that they could potentially use the fans’ engagement with the ring announcers to the WWE’s benefit.
