In case you didn’t know…
Xavier Woods & R-Truth faced then-3MB stable-mates Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre in a Tag Team Match on the March 27th, 2014 edition of WWE Superstars.
Woods tagged Mahal in the end, and picked up the victory by way of pinfall.
The heart of the matter
On the upcoming edition of SmackDown Live, Jinder Mahal and Xavier Woods are set to compete in a tournament matchup for a shot at the vacant WWE United States Championship.
While Mahal previously cut a promo on Woods alluding that the latter has already lost when he signed up to face the Modern Day Maharajah, Woods has now fired back with a response of his own.
Posting the finish of his aforementioned March 27th, 2014 Superstars match where he teamed with R-Truth against Mahal & McIntyre, Woods simply added a part of the popular Michael Jackson song ‘Remember The Time’ to the background of the video.
What’s next?
Xavier Woods will compete against Jinder Mahal in order to earn a shot at the vacant WWE US title—with the tournament finals taking place at the Royal Rumble PPV on January 28th.
The next episode of SmackDown Live that features the Woods vs. Mahal matchup will air from the Laredo Energy Center in Laredo, Texas on January 16th.
Author’s take
Xavier Woods and Jinder Mahal represent two of the most criminally underrated athletes in the WWE today.
While Mahal is likely to go over in this matchup—given his ongoing mid-card push—one cannot simply count out someone as slick and capable as Woods. Besides, The New Day member already seems to have the mind games on point in this one. Whose side are you on? Team Woods or Team Maharajah? Sound off in the comments!
