What’s the story?
Matt Hardy took to social media to express his desire of facing the Young Bucks inside the WWE ring. The Young Bucks took note and responded to their former rival’s words of praise.
In case you didn’t know...
The Young Bucks is one of the most popular tag teams in professional wrestling today, comprising of real-life brothers Matthew and Nicholas Massie, who perform under the ring names Matt and Nick Jackson. The brother briefly worked as jobbers for WWE back in 2008 and appeared on SmackDown too during their time.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Matt and his brother Jeff are no strangers to the Young Bucks, having faced Matt and Nick Jackson on multiple occasions in the past.
The heart of the matter
Following their departure from Impact Wrestling, the Hardys faced the Young Bucks and beating them for the ROH tag-team championships at Manhattan Mayhem. Their rivalry concluded at Supercard of Honor a night before Wrestlemania 33, in a match that saw the Bucks exact revenge upon the Hardys and regain their titles.
Both teams have expressed admiration for the other on multiple occasions in the past, and Matt Hardy who, along with his brother Jeff, holds the RAW tag team championships which they won upon their return at Wrestlemania last month, has stated that he’d love to face the Young Bucks in WWE if they were to ever sign with the promotion.
The Young Bucks responded to Matt’s declaration, with the following post:
If this match does happen, it’ll be one of the most high-profile tag team contests in recent times.
What’s next?
The Hardy Boyz are presently involved in a feud with Sheamus and Cesaro and will defend their RAW tag team belts against them at Extreme Rules this June 4th.
Meanwhile, the Young Bucks are currently contracted to ROH (Ring Of Honor) and NJPW (New Japan Pro Wrestling), besides performing for other indie promotions as well. Matt and Nick are now in their 3rd reign as ROH tag-team champions.
Author’s take
The Young bucks are one of the most popular teams to have not competed in WWE, apart from Matt’s brief appearance in the company as a jobber and their match against Miz and Morrison in ECW.
The Young Bucks didn’t make the cut during the previous tryouts they had with WWE, but when you speak about the here and now, there isn’t a hotter tag team duo than Matt and Nick in professional wrestling today.
If you feel Hardys vs the Revival would be a dream match in WWE, wait till you watch the Young Bucks enter the mix and wreak havoc in the WWE’s tag-team division.
