What’s the story?
As noted, before Monday's RAW went to air, Zack Ryder faced Mike Bennett in a match taped for WWE Main Event. During the match, he injured his knee.
In case you didn’t know...
Ryder has just made his return to the RAW brand, having been one of the after show 'trades' to be made.
Before this injury occurred, he wasn't long back in the ring. The former Intercontinental champion has been in and out of the ring since December 2016, thanks to another previous knee injury.
The heart of the matter
It was expected that he would be needing yet another knee surgery, which would keep him out of action for a large portion of this year. However, Ryder took to Twitter on Wednesday to reveal some very positive news regarding his knee.
He announced the following:
''Got some good news this morning...MCL/ACL/Calf muscle strains...nothing completely torn...no surgery will be needed. Thanks to everyone who reached out. It’s time for #Raw to get #Zacked!''
What's next?
Ryder hasn't made it very clear if he will be missing any time away from the ring. He doesn't need surgery, thankfully, but hasn't stated whether or not he is 100% ready to go. One could assume he may be good to go since he said ''It's time for RAW to get Zacked''.
It is possible WWE may also want to play it safe with him for a few weeks, which may cause him to miss the historic Greatest Royal Rumble event this Friday.
Author's take
This is really good news. Ryder can't afford to miss much more time away from the ring as he spent much of 2017 on the shelf with a knee injury, only one that was more serious.
I hope that he can return to RAW soon and wrestle on more than just WWE Main Event.
