What's the story?

At Power Struggle, Chris Jericho shocked the wrestling world by challenging Kenny Omega to a match at Wrestle Kingdom 12 via a video on the big screen. Now, Kenny Omega has responded to the match during the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 12 press conference.

In case you didn't know...

Kenny Omega had just successfully defended his IWGP United States Heavyweight Title against Beretta in a superb match during the Power Struggle pay-per-view.

He then dared anyone to come out and challenge him, which of course led to Jericho's video playing.

The heart of the matter

NJPW has subsequently held a press conference for their Wrestle Kingdom show where Omega addressed his upcoming match with the WWE legend Chris Jericho.

Kenny Omega was asked about the WWE, and he had the following to say, stating that no-one in the company was on his level, although Jericho didn't count because he leaves whenever he wants.

“WWE, in general — you can quote me on this I don’t care — everyone there is so below me. No one can put together a performance like me from there. Anyone that’s copying anyone is copying me. I’m the trend right now.”

What's next?

So, Kenny Omega will be facing Jericho at Wrestle Kingdom 12 in January, but there is some speculation that this will be the start of a programme between the two world-renowned wrestlers that could even lead to a match between the two at Wrestlemania, as unlikely as that sounds.

Author's take

The Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho match is sure to bring a whole ton of hype and intrigue to Wrestle Kingdom 12, making it a must-see wrestling show.

Fingers crossed that this is the start of something big and exciting that will continue throughout the rest of next year and beyond.
