Everything was running smoothly during New Japan Pro Wrestling's Power Struggle event. Kenny Omega had just defeated Beretta in a pretty good match to defend his IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship when a very familiar face popped up on the screen.

Nobody expected to see this happen, but Chris Jericho showed up on NJPW television and challenged The Cleaner to an epic match at Wrestle Kingdom 12 on January 4th, 2018 in the Tokyo Dome. This challenge was accepted and after that, the entire wrestling world exploded.
Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho are widely regarded as two of the greatest pro wrestlers on the planet. But due to their company allegiances, it didn't look like these two would ever be able to meet.
The Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla and The Omegaman have been throwing some bombs at each other on Twitter and most thought it was all in good fun. There was also a theory that these two could be hyping a match on Chris Jericho's upcoming "Rock N Wrestling Rager At Sea" but boy, were they wrong.
In all reality, we probably should have seen this coming because Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho had another little Twitter exchange hours before the Power Struggle where Y2J said he knew where they could settle the score between the two sports entertainment megastars.
It looks like Jericho's old friendship with NJPW's booker paid off in a big way.
