#3 To hype this week's NXT episode

We are NXT
We are NXT

If Charlotte would have talked about who she would challenge at WrestleMania, it would have revealed the secret before NXT TakeOver: Portland and give fans less of a reason to tune into the black and gold brand this week, possibly seriously hurting them in the ratings.

NXT is in the middle of a ratings war with AEW, and the company wants to keep fans invested in every part of the show. If the challenger would have been announced, it would have disinterested the fans about the ongoing storyline in NXT, as well as taken away the viewership from NXT TakeOver: Portland.

The company didn't want to give anything away last week, so we got the attack because it ensured that the fans would tune into the show on Wednesday night. This is a great way to build and sell the go-home episode of the black and gold brand before NXT TakeOver: Portland and the company succeeded in generating interest.
