WWE NXT Heatwave match card (July 2, 2024): New title’s first defense?

WWE NXT Heatwave is set to take place in Toronto this Sunday, July 7 and the match card features a lot of interesting battles. After Tuesday's episode, the full match card has been revealed, with a total of five matches set to take place.

With that in mind, the match card is as follows:

• NXT Championship: Trick Williams vs Je'Von Evans vs Ethan Page vs Shawn Spears (Fatal Four-Way Match)
• NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez vs Lola Vice
• NXT North American Championship: Oba Femi vs Wes Lee
• NXT Women’s North American Championship: Kelani Jordan vs Sol Ruca
• NXT Tag Team Championship: Nathan Frazer and Axiom vs Andre Chase and Duke Hudson of Chase U

The pre-show will also feature a tag team match as Karmen Petrovic and Arianna Grace will team up to take on Jacy Jayne and Jazmyn Nyx.

NXT Heatwave Premium Live Event will see the first title defense for Kelani Jordan, who will put her Women's North American Championship on the line against Sol Ruca.

Jordan survived a Ladder Match against Ruca and another four female superstars at NXT Battleground to become the new champion. Now, she will defend her newly acquired title against her friend.

Sol Ruca says she has to think "outside the box" in title match vs Kelani Jordan at NXT Heatwave

Sol Ruca will look to defeat her good friend Kelani Jordan at NXT Heatwave and become the new Women's North American Champion. Jordan made history as she became the inaugural champion at NXT Battleground on June 9, but Ruca will look to end the star's title reign early.

To do so, she admitted that she has to be creative and think "outside the box."

"Well Kelani and I have very similar backgrounds and honestly quite similar movesets. So this time around, I’m gonna need to think outside the box. Thinking outside the box is gonna get me that championship title and I will be stoked on life," Ruca said. [H/T Wrestle Talk]

With that in mind, fans expect history to be made at NXT Heatwave and no matter the outcome of the match, the rivalry should extend beyond Sunday's event.
