What's the story?
After Johnny Gargano lost his Career vs Title bout against Cien Almas at this week's broadcast of NXT, thanks to interference from former tag team partner, Ciampa, he had to leave NXT.
Ciampa was not done with Gargano and tweeted twice, aiming to mock his former friend-turned-rival.
In case you didn't know...
This week's episode of NXT saw Johnny Gargano put his NXT career on the line so that he could face Andrade 'Cien' Almas in a rematch for the NXT Championship. Things looked promising for Gargano, with Candice Lerae interfering on his behalf, to stop Zelina Vega from having influence in the outcome of the bout. The referee was knocked out by an accidental blow, and Almas was down as well.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
It was at this time when Gargano's former Tag Team partner, Tomasso Ciampa chose to interfere in the proceedings and hit him on the back with his crutch. Almas took advantage and won the bout, retaining the NXT Championship.
The heart of the matter
As a result of this loss, Gargano had to leave NXT, according to the stipulation of the match with Almas. WWE posted a sombre video of Gargano leaving the NXT building. You can watch it here:
Ciampa was not done with Gargano, as he took to Twitter to mock Gargano and his wife for his loss on NXT. He tweeted about his 'INCREDIBLE' night of sleep following Gargano's loss.
Later he went on to tweet the 'Na na na hey goodbye' song lyrics as well, to continue mocking his former tag partner.
Now with Gargano gone from NXT, Ciampa might make an in-ring return soon, after his recovery from injury.
What's next?
Johnny Gargano will not be on NXT now, due to the stipulation of his bout with Almas. He will have to find a way to make a return to NXT so that he can have his revenge against his former partner, Ciampa, in a feud that may be directed towards WrestleMania weekend.
Author's take
Gargano is one of the most likeable wrestlers on the WWE roster and a true fan favourite. The story that has been built for him as an underdog is one of the best in recent WWE history.
His feud with Ciampa has received a lot of hype and would be perfect for a non-title match at NXT Takeover: New Orleans.
