NXT
This week's NXT saw two HUGE announcements

With the penultimate episode before NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, there was a HUGE amount of expectation for this week's NXT. With huge announcements for the NOLA special and the continuation of the Dusty Classic, this was not to be missed!

However, if you did miss it, we've got you covered. Here's a full synopsis of last night's episode.

Before the show kicked off, Tommaso Ciampa showed up at the arena to a less than favourable reception from the WWE Universe as he got booed, jeered and heckled into the arena. Ciampa was asked how he was feeling by WWE cameras, but he declined to answer.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

We then saw Ciampa speak to William Regal and ask the General Manager what kind of place he's running, telling Regal that Gargano needs to be dealt with for attacking him and showing up at his house.

We then got the announcement of a match ten months in the making, when William Regal made an "Unsanctioned Match" between Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans with incredibly high stakes.

If Gargano wins, he returns to NXT. If Ciampa wins, Gargano will never return to NXT.

Next up was an announcement that will change the landscape of NXT forever as William Regal made his way to the ring to make his big announcement.

The GM announced the introduction of a new singles title - the North American Championship.

Well, while Regal spoke about the title, out came EC3!

The former Impact Wrestling Superstar made his way to the ring, basking in the crowd's chants of "EC3" and thanked William Regal for creating a new title to hand to him on his first night - to which an "NX3" chant erupted.

William Regal interrupted to say that, while he's incredibly happy EC3 is now an NXT Superstar, "no one is handed anything in NXT" and thus announced that the title will be on the line at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans in a Ladder Match.

EC3 was told he will get his chance, though, but he'll be up against five other competitors.

We saw footage from the Performance Center as TM61 were asked about their loss in the Dusty Tag Team Classic, but we didn't get much in the way of an answer as a brawl broke out between Shayna Baszler and Ember Moon. The camera man was a casualty in the brawl too. Moon and Baszlerwill meet at TakeOver for the title.

We then saw Zelina Vega and Andrade "Cien" Almas arrive at the arena for the show.

Street Profits vs. Authors of Pain

Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semifinal

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continued

Well, next up, two of NXT's top teams went head to head as the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic rolled on.

The match started with Rezar easily brushing off Montez Ford after Ford tried to deliver some trash talk, with Ford immediately tagging out. Akam repaid the favout and tagged himself in, too, but was met with a dropkick followed by a European uppercut courtesy of Angelo Dawkins.

Rezar tried to interfere, only to get wiped out before Dawkins hit a spinebuster on Akam. Montez Ford obviously got excited by this on the outside. So excited, in fact, that he started dancing and bumped into Paul Ellering - before offering an olive branch...

Ellering refused, however, and Ford stared him down before heading towards the ramp. The isolated Dawkins was on the receiving end of the Last Chapter in the ring to end this match somewhat prematurely.

Winners: Authors of Pain

Backstage, we saw Cathy Kelley speaking with William Regal about who else will be competing for the North American Championship at NXT TakeOver. Regal announced that Adam Cole would be a participant before Velveteen Dream arrived to say that it wouldn't be an experience without him involved, and William Regal confirmed him as the third competitor.

Lars Sullivan vs. John Silver

Lars Sullivan's return was a mere cameo

Well, this was quick. John Silver locked up with Lars Sullivan. For a mere second.

Sullivan threw Silver to the mat, pummeled his foe before picking him up and tossing him into the turnbuckle twice.

Sullivan hit a splash in the corner, then a military press into a powerslam. Sullivan took to the skies to hit a diving headbutt before ending the match with the Freak Accident.

After the match, we cut back to Cathy Kelley in the back where William Regal formally invited the dominant Superstar to be the fourth man in the Ladder Match at New Orleans.

"That sounds fantastic, Mr Regal." But Sullivan also said he wants Killian Dain. With that, Dain was confirmed as entrant number five for the North American Championship Match.

Before that, though, the pair will face off next week!

Next up, Dakota Kai was in action!

Or at least that was the plan.

Instead, the cameras cut to outside the building and we see Andrade 'Cien' Almas attacking Aleister Black. Almas beat up the number one contender before shoving his face into a cooler of water.

Almas then shoved Black into the door and into the building, essentially barging Black to the ring. Almas then unleashed some fury on Black's back with a steel chair in hand before yelling "Respect!" Referees then came to the ring to ward off the NXT Champion.

SAnitY (Eric Young & Alexander Wolfe) vs. Roderick Strong & Pete Dunne

Pete Dunne makes sure SAnitY know he's already a champion

The night's main event kicked off with Alexander Wolfe powerslamming Roderick Strong with both Pete Dunne and Eric Young coming into the fray immediately after. Both teams stared each other down before the referee regained control and sent the unofficial men back to their respective aprons.

Two tags were made and Young charged at Dunne, only to miss and gets rolled up. Dunne then kicked Young's arm and the two men on the apron came into the ring again, before a now much less patient referee sent the men to the apron again. Wolfe tagged in and instantly started to beat down Pete Dunne as we went to commercial break.

Back from the break, Strong and Young were in the ring with the former unleashing chops before tagging in Pete Dunne again. We saw some nice teamwork ending with a cover and a near fall. Young then tried to tag out but Dunne was well in control of his opponent.

Dunne, again, went to work on Young's arm, but Young countered with a crisp suplex that brought both partners into the ring again. Wolfe hit an uppercut on Strong before taking a knee to the midsection. Wolfe then hit a German suplex and a death valley driver, but again only managed a near fall.

Eric Young then hit a neckbreaker on Strong but Dunne broke the cover. Wolfe went up top but took a hit on his way down. Young received the same fate before Strong went up top, and also came down unceremoniously.

Young hit a flying elbow for a very close two count, before Strong fought back to get a near fall of his own, only stopped by Alexander Wolfe. Pete Dunne came into the fray and escaped a suplex with a flip and a kick to the back. Roderick Strong hit the End of Heartache on Wolfe, tagged in Dunne and they hit an assisted side suplex to pick up the win. Dunne and Strong join AOP in the final.

Winners: Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne

The show wasn't done there, though, as we cut back to Cathy Kelley one last time, and the sixth man who will compete in a Ladder Match to crown the inaugural NXT North American Champion is...

Richochet!
