Bobby Roode and Drew McIntyre’s face-off
William Regal was in the middle of the ring and the NXT GM introduced both men. The challenger, Drew McIntyre, came out first and was soon followed out by NXT Champion Bobby Roode. Roode came out with bodyguards who he called his personal security. He said that they were there to protect him from a “madman” running around backstage who was trying to attack him – Roderick Strong.
Roode then officially welcomed Drew McIntyre back to WWE. He then pointed out that the difference between him and Drew McIntyre was that he didn’t need a second chance to succeed. Roode said that he had promised he would be NXT Champion and he had done it along with everything else he had promised. He then said that NXT was his, not Drew’s NXT nor the fans’ NXT. Roode then said that McIntyre had been christened the “Chosen One”. However, Roode added that no one had needed to choose him.
McIntyre replied that Roode had had a good year but there was a big problem with his reign, he was an arse and he believed the words that came out of his mouth. McIntyre then added that at Brooklyn, he would bring Roode crashing back to earth.
Roderick Strong’s music hit at this point and it enraged William Regal. Before Regal could say much, Strong apologized for interfering but said that he had no choice since Roode has disrespected his family and him. Strong challenged Roode to a fight and this enraged Roode. Roode said he would give Strong his title match after TakeOver if Strong could defeat Drew McIntyre next week. Regal told Roode that he didn’t make the matches on NXT but McIntyre wanted the match too. Even though Regal was hesitant, he made the match after Roode coaxed him into it.
