Kushida's opponent was originally scheduled to be Raul Mendoza. However, Cameron Grimes took him out from behind, taking his spot instead.

Grimes was clobbered by Kushida early with a handspring kick to the face, sending him outside. He followed up with a rolling senton off the top, crashing on top of Grimes. Back on the inside, he lit up Grimes with some stiff chops to the chest.
Kushida blocked a kick and tried to lock in the Octopus Stretch. Grimes escaped the hold again, but the third time was the charm, trapping him in the middle of the ring. He did manage to get to the ropes, breaking the hold.
Kushida bounced off the ropes for a handspring back elbow, but he was caught with a German suplex, finally giving Grimes his first big offensive move of the night.
Kushida stunned Grimes with a right hand, but Grimes responded with one of his own. However, the flipping German was countered, and Kushida rolled him up for the victory.
Results: Kushida defeated Cameron Grimes via pinfall.
Kushida returned to his winning ways, picking up a victory his first night back. Next up, the main event. The Undisputed Era faced off agaisnt Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, and their WarGames partner Dominik Dijakovic.
