Another vignette played, again showing some horrifying imagery along with the words "Tick Tock". Wouldn't want to...Kross...whoever may be on there way to the Black & Gold brand. The clock is ticking.
Kushida and Raul Mendoza were matched pretty evenly in terms of speed. A tope con hilo from the Time Splitter, though, took Mendoza to the floor. Back inside, Mendoza avoided a dive and planted Kushida with a spinning brainbuster and a springboard moonsault to follow up. Kushida kicked out at two.
Mendoza's half nelson suplex was blocked, and Kushida rocked him with a handspring back elbow and a cartwheel basement dropkick. As Mendoza recovered in the corner, he avoided a running attack and connected with an enziguri. Mendoza set up for an avalanche maneuver but was countered by Kushida, who took him to the mat with a cross armbreaker.
Results: Kushida defeated Raul Mendoza via submission.
It's been a rocky first year for Kushida in NXT. An injury in late 2019 halted his progression on the brand after a great match with Walter. Though he's been used sparingly since then, hopefully 2020 has a lot more in store for him
