Trent Seven vs. A-Kid in the NXT UK Heritage Cup Tournament Final

Trent Seven against A-Kid. Experience versus youth. NXT UK history was about to be made. The competitors in the ring, the lights dim, and introductions are made. The two finalists stare one another down before shaking hands and preparing to fight.

Round 1. Tie up and fight for control. A-Kid’s speed and technique were countered by Sevens, power and experience, and vice versa. Great mat-based and submission counter wrestling on show by both guys. The action picks up just as the seconds tick away and the round ends. Very even round to kick off this intense NXT UK affair.

Round 2. Straight back to where we left off with a good old fashioned Roman knuckle lock test of strength. Both ground one another. A-Kid gains control with a surfboard stretch. A-Kid rolls in a kneebar as Seven desperately looks for an escape. The round comes to close and Seven slips in a nice punch at the bell.

Round 3. A-Kid comes out all guns blazing with stiff strikes and kicks and gets the better and hits a big PK for a two count. A-Kid would gain the advantage with a flying superkick to the NXT UK stalwart for the first fall of the match.

Round 4. A-Kid goes for the kill with another fierce kick from the bell. Seven would kick out of a pinfall, but A-Kid would trap him into a grinding headlock into an armbar. Seven would fight back, but A-Kid would tenaciously clutch on his arm. Seven powers out into a powerbomb as the round finishes.

Round 5. Both NXT UK warriors were looking a little worn go right back into grappling. A-Kid would counter a DDT with a beautiful Northern Lights Suplex. Seven would hit a huge DDT but only for a two count. Seven would keep on the pressure with a big clothesline into the corner. A-Kid up top but Seven would chop him down. Seven up top. A fight back. Seven with a top rope backdrop but A-Kid countered into a cross-body block. One, two, NO, the round ends canceling out the pin.

Round 6. Final round and the action is intense. NXT UK is known for its brutal and brilliant matches but this might just the best in the brand's history. Seven hits several moves in an attempt to level the match. A big backdrop, a small package, and a huge lariat all fail to get the pin. Seven hits a vicious burning hammer, but A-Kid's foot was under the ropes. Seven fires up and hits another colossal clothesline for another near fall. Seven is exhausted and frustrated, which gives A-Kid the chance to snatch in an armbar. Seven counters into a pin to take the match into sudden death.

Sudden Death. Trent Seven and A-Kid have been to hell and back but will now have to go to that next level to end this is epic NXT UK encounter. They trade nasty smacks and kicks until Seven hits a clothesline. A-Kid wisely heads out to the apron. Massive chop from Seven into a disgusting gut-wrench powerbomb from the apron to the floor and somehow A-Kid gets back into the ring.

Seven Star Lariat into a burning hammer countered into a superkick and flying kick. Seven traps an armbar. A-Kid counters into his own. Seven won't tap out, but A-Kid applies further pressure by tying up his second arm. The unbearable pain forces Seven to submit and crown A-Kid as the first-ever NXT UK Heritage Cup winner and a worthy winner from this enthralling, epic, and excellent match.
