Ever since the WWE network was launched, the popularity of NXT has been soaring up. WWE made good use of the same by delivering NXT Arrival and setting the stage for Takeover. These however are nowhere near the exposure that a pay-per-view would give to the developmental promotion. NXT is a promotion which gives a lot of importance to the in ring action than the blatant narratives. And WWE could give the fans such a wrestling showcase if they decide to put the NXT title on the line. Tyson Kid and Adrian Neville are the front runners if the match is to happen and throwing in Sami Zayn would make matter more interesting. The match is sure to be a cracker and it could also serve the purpose of increasing the popularity of NXT.
#5 Bring back the Cruiserweight title
It might be a long shot to wish for this one but since WWE is now interested in giving the midcard titles a lot of importance, adding another title into the mix could be a great idea.
The cruiser weight title in the past gave some great high flying matches for the fans and a relaunch certainly will be exciting.
Though WWE doesn’t have a quality cruiser weight division at the moment, the lights of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Rey Mysterio, El Torito, Justin Gabriel, Sin Cara and some others from the main roster could find relevance with the title.
There are some interesting prospects in the NXT as well so WWE could easily throw in a high adreline match into Payback to make the fans happy.
#4 Stephanie McMahon vs. Brie Bella
After Hunter decided to go behind Shield after WrestleMania, Daniel Bryan continued his feud with the Authority thanks to Stephanie on the other side.
She has been a great heel so far and the fans would love to see her get beaten up by someone. Since Bryan is taken out of the pay-per-view, the company could let Brie get some revenge against Stephanie inside the ring.
Stephanie might be still a long way from giving a great technical match, but she could give something to cheer for the fan which is a great thing.
Some clever booking will simply do the job for everyone and it would be a good match for uplifting the divas division as well.
#3 Giving NXT title a spot in the match card
#2 Starting the King of the Ring tournament
It’s been a long time since the WWE dug up this tournament and every time they had one, it was bound to give some interesting storyline.
The most notable one that came across would be the one in 1996 when it gave birth to one of the best characters in WWE, Steve Austin. Likewise, WWE could give some kind of big push to anyone on the roster.
Cesaro would be the best choice at the moment, but since the company already booked him for a match against Sheamus, they could restrict to announcement and couple of first round matches at Payback.
They could simply have a great build up to Money in the bank with King of the Ring matches as well with the finale taking place in the July pay-per-view.
#1 Bring back CM Punk or Chris Jericho or both
The most obvious choice to let the fans forget about Bryan would be to overshadow him with some big return. The rumors suggesting the return of CM Punk is stronger than ever and the Chicago crowd is simply going to erupt if Punk shows up.
Another big star who could make an impact would be Chris Jericho. There have been rumors of Jericho surfacing in time for Money in the bank, but if the company could make his return happen in the place where he made his debut it would be great.
They could even bring out Chris Jericho out to CM Punk’s music to give him a great heel momentum on the return itself.
Or on a better note, we could have both Punk and Jericho back in time for the pay-per-view to blow the roof off the Arena.
