The Extreme Rules week of WWE had its fair share of drama as the writers introduced some exciting twists and turns in the storylines across the roster.Return of Ric Flair and him endorsing Shield instead of Evolution clearly stood out as the most surprising one while Rob Van Dam got his rub in with Cesaro and Jack Swagger. On the other hand Bray Wyatt simply took all the limelight when he pulled off one of the creepiest and complex promos that WWE fans have seen. The battle lines were drawn for the match between Kane and Daniel Bryan as well when it all became a bit more personal. With Extreme Rules coming up on Sunday, here is a look at the Power Rankings before the pay-per-view.
#25 Rhodes Brothers (Previous Rank- 25)
The Rhodes brother continued to brew up on the tease of a split between them this week. Their singles run was more relevant without much surprise and they barely hold on to their place the list after splitting their matches.
#24 Hornswoggle (Previous Rank- 24)
Hornswoggle’s feud with El Torito is actually doing him a lot of good as it keeps him relevant and in turn in the Power Rankings as well. Now he will be exposed to some PPV spotlight on Sunday as well which might further propel him.
#23 3MB (Previous Rank Nil)
After all those months of being tagged as the jobber squad 3MB finally won a match this week against the Los Matadores. Hornswoggle seems to be the push they needed and 3MB has to get some more like this win under their belt if they are to stay here.
#22 Jack Swagger (Previous Rank- 21)
Heading into the triple threat match at Extreme Rules against Cesaro and Rob Van Dam, Swagger will be hoping to move away from the unlucky run that he’s been having for some time. he took two more losses this week and drops down one place in the rankings.
#21 Undertaker (Previous Rank- 18)
It’s not a surprise to see Undertaker slowly slipping down the ranks as he is yet to be seen on television after his shocking loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. the WWE universe is clearly split when it comes to Taker as some believes he is done with wrestling while other’s feel that he still has one more match in him.
#20 Los Matadores (Previous Rank- 20)
The Los Matadores manage to keep their rank intact despite the surprising loss against 3MB on Raw. El Torito left a confident statement about the match on Sunday which could prove to be the one which substantiates their stay in the Power Rankings.
#19 Dolph Ziggler (Previous Rank- 22)
Though it was sad to see a talent like Damien Sandow being dressed up like Magneto playing a comic role, it at least beared some fruit for Ziggler who got a win on SmackDown. Some quality interaction with Hugh Jackman also helped the Showoff to climb the rankings.
#18 Rybaxel (Previous Rank- 17)
Rybaxel was clearly on top of their game on Monday when they got the tag title shots but couldn’t take the titles away from Usos. Their title hopes didn’t work out in SmackDown as well when Dean Ambrose retained his US title and this drops Rybaxel one spot in the ranking.
#17 Alexandre Rusev (Previous Rank- 19)
Rusev got two disqualification wins this week as interferences took away his regular wins. he is clearly a Bulgarian who will be looking to settle the scores on Sunday and R-Truth and Xavier Woods is going to have a tough time handling him.
#16 Big Show (Previous Rank- 14)
The World’s largest athlete slips further down the Power Rankings after a week of absence. He seems to be out of Extreme Rules as well and should try to find some relevance before the road to SummerSlam begins.
#15 Tamina (Previous Rank- 16)
Tamina lived up to the No. 1 contender spot that she has this week with a win over Natalya. Getting one over one of the most talents Divas in the division is a dream preparation for the second generation superstar who will be looking to avenge for AJ Lee on Sunday.
#14 Sheamus (Previous Rank- 13)
Sheamus got caught in a tug of war with the Wyatt Family this week which eventually lost him a place in the rankings. He seemed no match for Bray and his creepy guys and will have to find someone else to spar with to find his way back into the main event scene.
#13 Kane (Previous Rank- 15)
The Big red Monster plagued Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella this week after coming through the ring to grab Brie. He was in no mood for following orders apparently and will be looking to take Bryan with him at Extreme Rules where he can do anything he wants.
#12 Paige (Previous Rank- 12)
Though it was surprising to see Paige getting tangled in the Daniel Bryan storyline, the Divas champion came out looking good due to her in ring skills. The superplex off the top rope against Brie was a rare scene in the divas match and Paige pulled it off to perfection. She now prepares for Tamina at Extreme Rules which will be her first pay-per-view in the main roster.
#11 The Usos (Previous Rank- 9)
The Usos held on to their titles on Monday despite a big threat of Rybaxel and ankle injury. However, a loss to Wyatt Family in SmackDown costs Rikishi’s sons their spot in the top ten as they slip to 11th this week. They still don’t have challengers at Extreme Rules which is more concerning.
#10 Cesaro (Previous Rank- 10)
Cesaro took out Jack Swagger to beginning his week and later went on to cost Rob Van Dam the Intercontinental championship. He however holds the upper hand over his opponents as he heads to Extreme Rules and will be looking to make Paul Heyman proud.
#9 Rob Van Dam (Previous Rank- 8)
Mr. Monday Night lost out to Bad News Barrett after Cesaro decided to interfere in the match But Van Dam managed to get a win on SmackDown over Jack Swagger. It was however not enough for him to hold on to the 8th place in the Power Rankings. ,
#8 Bad News Barrett (Previous Rank- 11)
Barrett delivered good news for all his fans out there when he nailed Rob Van Dam with a bull hammer to become the No.1 contender for Intercontinental title. He will now be looking to get another title reing under his reign at Extreme Rules against Big E.
#7 Big E (Previous Rank- 7)
The intercontinental champion didn’t show any signs of fear when Bad News Barrett won the tournament as he looked more than ready. The destruction of Titus O’Neil on SmackDown said the same and Big E holds on to the rank because of that aggression.
#6 John Cena (Previous Rank- 6)
The Cenation leader and his fans were left stunned by Bray Wyatt on Monday as he bought out a choir to aid his creepy path. It’s clearly a different Cena that we are seeing now and he will have to keep his fear apart if he wants to replicate his feet at WrestleMania.
#5 Brock Lesnar (Previous Rank- 2)
Lesnar pulled out a no show again this week and Paul Heyman apparently dropped the bragging to endorse his new client as well. But with the momentum he has after beating Taker’s legendary streak, Lesnar is sure to make a big impact on his return.
#4 Daniel Bryan (Previous Rank- 4)
Bryan struggled to keep up with the resurrected monster Kane once again this week as Kane almost dragged Brie down along with him. He however claimed that he will be in no mood to give up on Extreme Rules which is an encouraging sign for all his fans out there.
#3 Wyatt Family (Previous Rank- 3)
Bray Wyatt showed how brilliantly toned his character is when he pulled out a creepy promo on Raw. he then went on to show his in ring skills in the week and picked up two impressive wins in the process. But the real test for Bray will be at Extreme Rules where he will have to live up to his words.
#2 Evolution (Previous Rank- 1)
Evolution got one right in their face when Ric Flair decided to endorse the Hounds of Justice. The brief moment of dominance on Raw didn’t live up as well when Shield cleared the house and took the momentum away from Evolution heading into Extreme Rules.
#1 Shield (Previous Rank- 5)
The Hounds of Justice served justice on Monday as they cleared the ring and knocked Evolution out. Dean Ambrose then got a big win over three superstars on SmackDown to successfully defend his US title which shoots the Shield into first place in the Power Rankings.
