AJ Styles defended his WWE championship against Dean Ambrose on SmackDown this week but managed to keep hold of the gold. It was due to the interference from John Cena that the match went in favour of Styles but in the record books, it counts as a win for the champion. With No Mercy in the horizon, this win would be a good momentum builder for Styles.
But at the same time, it was Cena that stood tall at the end of the segment meaning that Styles would be looking to pile up on the momentum in the coming week by getting the better of the Cenation leader and the Lunatic Fringe.
