The Extreme Rules Go Home edition of Raw is here. A few matches were made official and maybe one suffered because of an untimely injury. The company even went with an unlikely feud to close out the show and while Shane and Stephanie McMahon showed obvious signs of cracks in their unlikely partnership in business, it did not play much of a factor as the night ended, thanks to one Ric Flair.
WWE might also want to continue its tradition of great shows with PPVs that are not so much hyped as a Payback or now, Extreme Rules. Here are the 5 points to note from this weeks show-
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
1: Bummer!
Emma suffered a back injury at a house show in New Mexico when she teamed up with Lana to face Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks. This comes as a huge setback since there were rumors that WWE was again high on Emma and had great plans to push her. The rumors were given more leverage as Dana Brooke was called up to the main roster to revive their successful partnership in NXT.
And now, just a week after her debut, Brooke is on her own. The real travesty lies in the fact that the ruptured disc in her back will keep her out indefinitely. The duration of her recovery can’t be determined until the procedure is done.
Brooke, meanwhile, defeated Lynch in a singles match tonight.
2: Contract Signing
For the third time in the past 2 years, Raw ended with a contract signing between two female performers. Charlotte and Natalya got the main event spot for this segment and what came through the most was the tension between Charlotte and her father Ric Flair- stopping him getting the ‘Woo’ chant going to pleading him to do get himself together- this segment really put Ric Flair forward as a mess until Stephanie did her shtick and slapped Flair getting some rare positive reaction from the audience.
If anything, Charlotte will win Sunday until the title is taken away from her by, as rumors suggest, Sasha Banks. But what this storyline is doing is maybe separate father and daughter until she goes forward on her own.
3: Asylum Match
While Chris Jericho is busy playing his heel character to the tee and becoming to look like the craziest person in this feud, a real sociopath actually, Ambrose invited Jericho to the ring to unveil something new and propose a match for Extreme Rules.
While Jericho reveled in his craziness and asked everyone to soak up the Gift of Jericho, Ambrose gifted him with the stipulation of their match this Sunday. It’s going to be an Asylum match the opponents will be able to use all sorts of weapons inside a steel cage and maybe you can’t get out of there to win.
4: Extreme Rules Main Event
Gallows and Anderson lost this week to the Usos but as this storyline goes, everything that matters most happens after such matches are over. For Reigns it’s all about family while Styles maintains that he’s no liar, he’s with his friends turned brothers now that the tension has gone haywire.
This week they played out with another weapon that can be used in their match this Sunday and that was a chair and they put it across brilliantly with Styles finally getting Reigns in the Styles Clash position and then finally ramming his body onto the chair.
5: Singles Competition
While Dana Brooke is alone after what happened to Emma, another superstar who’s facing the same obstacle got a singles match tonight and it would be accurate to say that the upper echelon of the company does see a lot of potential in Big Cass, given his skills on the mic and his build.
He easily overcame the Dudleys- two guys who were a major force to be reckoned with in the Attitude Era. While he got some promo time where he nailed the line calling Bubba Ray Dudley Fred Flintstone, this was all building towards Cass making huge steps towards a future singles run.
