WWE RAW 17th June Preview: Payback Aftermath

Cena man

Payback was surely one of the better PPVs in a long time and did a great deal to make us forget the disaster that Extreme Rules was. It is important that WWE follows Payback with an equally exciting show of RAW tonight. The importance lies in the fact that it helps fans understand better why certain wrestlers lost and why the ones victorious deserved it. For long we have been earning for a perfect pair where a great PPV is followed by a great aftermath RAW. While it has been quite long since we have had that, it remains to be seen whether WWE finally manages to nail it. With a lot of new and interesting storylines and character turn to speak about here is the preview for this week’s RAW.

What’s next for Super Cena?

You don’t knock out 20 men by leaping of the top rope unless you are Super Cena and the ‘man of steel’ of WWE reigned supreme over Ryback and managed to come down from a 1-0 deficit to win the 3 stages of hell match against Ryback last night. The finishing moments came when Ryback went through the roof of the Ambulance after an AA on top of it. Undoubtedly, this solidifies the fact that WWE has planned to push Cena to the limits and there is no way in hell that a person can now take the title away from him. Cena looks all set for a historic reign and will most probably and sadly break Punk’s recent streak of 434 days. So what’s next for Cena after Ryback? Who will Cena’s next contender be? RAW will give us just the right answer. As far as Ryback is concerned let’s hope his massive push has finally come to an end as it has in no ways helped Ryback and has instead proven him to be a weak contender.

Is Mark Henry set to retire?

While the retirement looks too early, WWE might be using his retirement as a storyline. Imagining Henry leave now after his monster push early this year is difficult and hence going by what several sites have rumored this could be a plot by WWE to create a storyline out of Henry’s retirement.

CM Punk turning face?

Punk Man

CM Punk made a successful return to WWE in Payback last night after he managed to defeat Jericho in his hometown. Punk received more cheers than one could imagine and even the likes of Jericho got booed when making offense. While this was much anticipated in his hometown, it was Punk’s style of fighting that created more doubts. Punk played it quite simple and didn’t do anything unnecessary which an otherwise heel Punk would have done. Heyman seemed interested in breaking Punk’s flow in the match and there was a moment where Punk got distracted due to Heyman and nearly lost the match. After Payback went off air, Punk and Heyman seemed to have an argument and Punk made it clear that he wasn’t happy with what had transpired. Now does this infuriate Heyman and end their relationship as manager and client, RAW should have the answer.

How will the new Champions get built for MITB?

Payback saw three title changes and one of them was completely unexpected. Dolph Ziggler, who looked in the driver seat before the match, lost the title to Del Rio which no one expected. Ziggler’s concussion was brought into the storyline and apparently Del Rio took advantage of it. Ziggler’s resolve to fight got him a lot of sympathy and Del Rio heat. It looks as though there is a swap in character as Ziggler turns face and Del Rio heel.

Another title that changed hands was the Intercontinental Title. Paul Heyman’s newest client continued his winning streak by beating the Miz and Barrett. Will it be Barrett or Miz who runs after the title or will we see a triple threat again at MITB?

A special mention to the divas match at Payback. AJ and Kaitlyn gave us one of the better divas matches in a long time. AJ at the moment is one of the most popular divas and it is time WWE started concentrating more on this division as these two wrestlers showed us their potential last night.

Orton heel turn, the Shield’s next target

Payback showed signs of Orton turning heel as he shoved Bryan into a Reigns’ spear. Also, the Shield managed to successfully defend both their titles. So who will the Shield target next and how does WWE move the Shield from here, all the answers on RAW tonight.
