WWE Monday Night RAW: 27th January, 2014 - Superstar ratings

Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan

As expected the WWE pulled off an interesting Raw this week and carried on the momentum they built from the Royal Rumble. There was plenty of action both inside and outside the ring while the fans were going rampant about Daniel Bryan. The creative was seen in a desperate struggle to fend off the angry chants from fans that were unhappy about the booking that Bryan got at the Rumble. And to a point they tried to do so by putting Bryan inside the Elimination chamber.

Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar was seen destructive once again while there was a showdown between the Wyatt family and Shield. It was nothing short of excellence from the creative team, so let’s take a look at how the superstars gained foot in the show with the Superstar ratings.

Fandango- 3/10

Fandango

Fandango

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Fandango was embarrassed by El Torito at the Royal Rumble and his luck didn’t change in Raw too as he took the fall to R-Truth. A boring match with nothing expect Summer Rae to look at, many wouldn’t even remember that something like this happened on Raw. The loss doesn’t do anything good for the Ball Room Dancer as he seems to take the slip down every week.

R-Truth- 3/10

R-Truth

R-Truth

It’s still a mystery as to why the creative decides to put a veteran like R-Truth into matches like this. There weren’t minimum heat in the match and the in ring action also disappointed. The win doesn’t do anything good for the superstar and the only thing that we got from it was that Xavier Woods might be injured.

The Miz- 4.5/10

The Miz

The Miz

So is Miz a face or a heel? Or is the WWE done with the face-heel division? Well it certainly looks like that. Because heels like Roman Reigns and Antonio Cesaro are getting all the cheers in the world while the crowd boo Batista and John Cena. But as for Miz he gets the cheers one day and jeers on the next.

A loss against Ziggler adds salt to the wound and there’s nothing more needed to be said about that. A potential feud with Wade Barrett lurks around the corner which might be interesting to see.

The Rhodes Brothers- 5/10

Rhodes Brothers

Rhodes Brothers

The Rhodes Brothers have all of a sudden turned out to look less relevant after dropping the titles. They’re match with the New Age Outlaws wasn’t up to their regular standards and the beating they took at the end didn’t help either. The creative needs to do something with the duo as a feud with eachother seem like the best option.

Rybaxel- 5/10

Ryback

Ryback

The only reason for the tag team getting such a high rating for their standard is because of their opponents. The Usos made Axel and Ryback look good even in their loss. The creative tried to make them more meaner using the after match beat down, but that also didn’t seemed to work as they have clearly no story at the moment.

Kofi Kingston—5/10

Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston

Though the winning streak of Kofi came to an end this week, the crowd was really behind the charismatic superstar. Kofi might not be a WrestleMania main event type wrestler, but he sure know what it takes to produce memorable moments like what we saw at the Royal Rumble.

Rey Mysterio- 5/10

Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio

An average night for Mysterio, he was seen in a tag team match alongside Sin Cara. The dynamics of being against Antonio Cesaro and Jack Swagger did make Mysterio look better. However, the Real Americans stole the show with another impressive performance. There was nothing spectacular about Mysterio’s performance as he did a typical match that we’ve seen for years.

Sin Cara-5/10

Sin Cara

Sin Cara

The tag team pairing of the masked luchadors seems to be back for the moment now as Sin Cara and Mysterio is put into tag team matches often. Ever since Hunico took over the mask, the character has gained more ground and this time also he produced a great showing. The flashy speed of the duo was a treat to the eyes but the lack of storyline haunts the two.

The New Age Outlaws- 6/10

The New Age Outlaws

The New Age Outlaws

The new tag team champions made their first title defense didn’t go as expected and the match was pretty underwhelming. There were a lack of excitement in the slow paced match and for the first time since there return there were glimpses of age taking toll on the bodies of the duo. First didn’t go well buy maybe the future will be better scene.

Dolph Ziggler – 6/10

Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler

Despite all the bad pushes he’s been getting, despite being out with concussion, despite taking many bumps, Ziggler is still a fan favorite and he rightly deserves to be one. The Show Off has been busting his rear even in the matches he loses and the WWE should look into giving him a storyline rather than random booking like this. Hopefully a win against Miz will be the start of something good.

Alberto Del Rio- 6.5/10

Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio

There is no doubt about the ability that Del Rio possesses inside the ring. This week’s match against Kofi Kingston was another glimpse of why WWE pays so much to him. Del Rio looked impressive in the ring once more and the promo he pulled against Batista also sets up a potential match which makes it a good week for Del Rio. The Real Americans- 6.5/10

The Real Americans

The Real Americans

Antonio Cesaro followed up well on the momentum he got from the Rumble while Jack Swagger complimented equally. Zeb Colter was getting on the skin of the two which mean we could probably see an internal explosion of the tag team leaving Cesaro to explore more venture because he is too good to be confined in a tag team.

The Usos- 7/10

The Usos

The Usos

The lack of impact making in the Royal Rumble didn’t slow down the Usos as they secured another impressive victory at Raw. The brothers impressed in the short time given and they look set for a tag team title shot soon. With such momentum on their back, they might win it as well.

Brock Lesnar- 7.5/10

Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar

He didn’t make much of an impact at Royal Rumble but Lesnar clearly made the headlines this week by attacking the Rhodes Brothers. The extra dimension of a battered monster that didn’t get a title shot he wanted makes Lesnar more intriguing as a character. And at this rate expect him to make more destruction in the near future.

Wyatt Family – 7.5/10

The Wyatt Family

The Wyatt Family

Like Lesnar, the Wyatt Family also made a big impact this week as they cost The Shield their chance to be in the elimination Chamber. They seem to have their eyes set on the main eventer after dispatching Daniel Bryan. John Cena, Sheamus and the Shield all looks like on the list. Wyatts are the ones to watch out at the moment alongside Lesnar as both are bound to make a message.

Sheamus and John Cena- 7.5/10

Sheamus

Sheamus

Sheamus and Cena ran in for the save of Daniel Bryan and saw themselves booked in a six man tag team match for the main event. And thus the duo now finds themselves with a spot in the Elimination Chamber match. Sheamus looked good in his return to Raw, being involved in a great match benefited him to hide the rustiness as well. Cena was solid as well and the ratings come thanks to the great main event pulled off at Raw.

Daniel Bryan- 8/10

Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan

The Flying goat came to a roaring crowd as usual and went toe to toe with Triple H. Bryan is clearly what the fans want and it was out there in the form of cheers and chants. He then went on to give a great performance in the main event which the fans wanted to see at the Royal Rumble. The energy he bought into the ring was unmatched and the best part is that he is in the Elimination Chamber match as well.

The Shield – 8.5/10

The Shield

The Shield

From being close to a breakup to working as a unit against three big names in the business, the Shield once against stood out as the best performers of the night. The cheers Roman Reigns got and the in ring ability that Seth Rollins showcased coupled with the acting skills of Dean Ambrose made the team looks more deadly and impressive. A potential show down it the Wyatt family also is at the horizon and all this makes them the highest rated superstars
