What was WWE trying to achieve here?

Out of nowhere, we have been forced to watch a feud between a legendary superstar and one that is still looking to find his form in WWE.

At the Royal Rumble, we watched Jeff Jarrett and Elias kick off the men’s Royal Rumble match, and suddenly a rivalry has formed between these two men without a story or background.

To sell this off well, WWE has also suddenly turned Elias heel again after just a couple of months as a face, which is even more puzzling. This makes it obvious that the creatives are not sure where to take Elias as a superstar.

Elias beating Jarrett was, however, the correct move, as Elias needs the push while Jarrett actually needs nothing at this point in his career.

While WWE is trying hard to increase Raw’s rating by bringing in Kurt Angle, Becky Lynch, Jeff Jarrett, Paige, and other famous superstars, handing the victory to Jarrett would have surely hurt Elias’ current reputation.
