Battleground is just about two RAW shows away and WWE by far have done a decent job with the card.
Though most of the matches involved will at most be rematches of Night of Champions, we can expect things to heat up with better booking.
With the burden of Hell in a Cell and SummerSlam within a span of a few weeks from each other, WWE will have its work cut out in trying to build a card for both the events.
The key moments of last week included Randy Orton‘s changeover, CM Punk‘s face off against Heyman and co. and Bryan and his new-found rebels.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
This week too, WWE will try and concentrate on these angles and will try and create something interesting and exciting for Battleground. Without further ado, let us try and look at the things to look out for on RAW this week.
1. McMahons-Rhodes saga
Last week, moments before the 11 on 3 handicap match, the Rhodes brothers vented out their frustration over the management by attacking the Shield.
The duo appeared out of nowhere from the crowd and attacked the Hounds of Justice who were clearly taken aback by this sudden confrontation. They were then taken back by the security at ringside and escorted out of the arena.
Triple H naturally didn’t look impressed by this and has invited the Rhodes family on RAW this week for a brief talk about their jobs in the company.
So what exactly is this lucrative proposition? Are we going to see the Rhodes Brothers in action at Battleground? or is it just another ploy where Triple H teaches his rebels a lesson? This might be the right opportunity for the Shield to find some solace after their loss on RAW last week.
2. Who is Randy Orton’s next target? Randy Orton over the past two weeks has become far vicious than any of us have seen him in recent times. After having lost the title at Night of Champions, Orton has been in a violent run.
He destroyed the Miz twice on RAW two weeks back and again on SmackDown last week. RVD too suffered the same fate but managed to come out with lesser injuries compared to the Miz.
The question that remains now is who will Triple H and Stephanie place on Orton’s line next? The Rhodes are likely contenders as Orton showed some interest over them being invited on RAW this week.
Let’s hope the Rhodes have some backup to tackle what Triple H and his Face of the company have planned for them.
3. Will Big Show end up being a corporate sellout?
Big Show’s act on RAW last week brought up a lot of doubts when he knocked Miz out without any hesitation.
Show has been looking so emotionally distressed by the orders that Stephanie and HHH have put on him. But despite all that, he knocked out the Miz without any second thoughts which is indicative of the fact that Big Show is giving in to the pressure of his financial needs.
So the question that remains now is whether Big Show will fight back or will he continue doing what the corporation wants him to. From the look of things, one can except Big Show to snap sooner or later.
4. Is Punk’s quest for Heyman too much for him to handle?
CM Punk has been trying his best for over two months now to get his hands on Heyman. His former best friend and manager Heyman has not only managed to go unscathed each time but has given Punk an equal and fitting response on every occasion.
After his masterful ploy last week of getting Punk beaten up by his two clients, it looks as though Heyman has more than enough resources to keep Punk at bay.
Is the team of Ryback and Axel too much for Punk to handle? How will Punk respond to his assault week? Will Punk come up with a new strategy to tackle this new menace in front of him or will he still allow his anger and emotions take over his witty side?
Let’s hope Punk has deciphered new plans that can help him get some retribution this week.
5. Daniel Bryan and the rebels
Daniel Bryan has a strong support of the babyface rebels on his side which helped him overcome the Shield. For the past few weeks, Triple H has been pretty confusing with his tactics against Bryan, but has remained defiant in accepting Bryan as a top contender for the title.
He still believes Bryan is nothing more than a B+ wrestler.
The question that remains now is what Triple H and the management has in store for Bryan and the rebels next.
After the 11 men beat the Shield, they have the upper hand now, which I am sure HHH is aware of. So how exactly is the top brass going to handle this situation and keep these rebels under control?
6. The World Heavyweight title and the debut of Los Matadores
The World Heavyweight Title scene has vanished into the background as the corporation storyline is the biggest thing fans have seen over the past few years.
Del Rio will be facing RVD in a hardcore rules match at Battleground, but the problem with this is that RVD seems involved with the corporation more than he is involved with ADR.
Either WWE needs to actively involve ADR into the corporation too or let RVD concentrate on his World Title shot at Battleground.
Also, this week’s RAW will see the debut of Los Matadores who WWE has been promoting very heavily over the past few weeks.
Rumours suggest that they will feud against the heel tag team ‘The Real Americans’ and hopefully, we will see them get on with it straight away. Expect them to make a strong debut and deliver a memorable performance.
