The Man Named StingThe ratings dip has created little bit of a stir in the WWE Universe. Tonight’s show made more sense than not.The card for Night of Champions was set perfectly. The Divas had something sensible to deal with even if they had short matches there was a certain storyline development with the Championship gaining some priority.Apart from a few repeated matches, this episode was far from disappointing. Also, Sting is great on weeks when Lesnar is not around. Tonight, his absence did not create a huge void. All said and done, here are the five promising developments from this week's show-
#1 Not Better Than Triple H
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Sting’s promo wasn’t as long as a typical Authority promo and while he was all riled up and getting a couple of cheap pops, he made an interesting point. After his match with Triple H at Wrestlemania, Sting says that he respects Triple H but Rollins, according to him, is a little boy. He isn’t ‘half the man’ that Triple H is. Backstage when Rollins was irate at the statements, Stephanie begged to differ and agreed that Triple H is better than Rollins. She retorted that legends are not made overnight but rather over time.
This may be the first crack in the armour of The Authority and this may be a signal to a Rollins babyface turn in the future. A showdown between HHH and Rollins seems imminent.
#2 The Bella-Tron
This may be the biggest opportunity for the main roster divas to dig into a meaningful storyline. The championship is in focus now and Nikki Bella is on her way to becoming the longest reigning Divas Champion in WWE history in 14 days. She introduced a ‘Bella-Tron’ which shows the countdown to her historic moment on the titantron.
The fact is Nikki will reach that date without defending her title. But anything can change in the WWE Universe. What may be really interesting is for Nikki to face the Number one Contender for the title on the 295th day of her reign, when she equals AJ Le’ss record.
That may be the biggest partypooper!
#3 Perfect 10
Sure, it’s been 10 years since the Dudley Boyz last competed in the WWE. But they’re also aiming at becoming the 10 time World Tag Team Champions.Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley have already amplified the tag team division scene with their arrival and they plan on putting every team out there through a table.
Whenever they have fresh opponents to face, these two have rarely, if ever, disappointed. And right now, the New Day is the best tag team present since The Shield.
#4 New Contender
The Divas Revolution on the main roster has been nothing but a sham but it showed some real storyline development this week. All members of PCB had quick matches. Ultimately the rumors came true and Charlotte won the Beat The Clock Challenge at 1 minute 41 seconds. She’s set to face Nikki Bella at Night of Champions. And this may be her crowning moment.
This may also be the first moment where you tease Team PCB breaking up in the near furture.
What will be great is if Charlotte beats Nikki Bella on the 295th day of her reign on Raw.
#5 Double Duty
Throughout the night, the face that runs the place wasn’t around. We haven’t seen him since he was banned from the arena last week.
This week he came to talk to Rollins when the champion was busy wondering where his statue is. The biggest points of this segment were to show the rising friction in the Authority and that Rollins will be pulling off double duty at Night of Champions, defending his US Title against Cena and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Sting.
That has to be something. It’s only triggering towards a Rollins’ face turn.
