Last night's edition of Monday Night Raw saw the unusual team of Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman outshining the OC's Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows to win the Raw tag-team Championships.
There's no denying that the spotlight was supposed to be on the Architect and the Monster Among Men, who are rumored to slug it out at Clash of Champions for the Universal Championship.
However, this does not bode well for the Phenomenal One and his brothers. The creative tried to bring an element of rejuvenation to the tag-team division, with legions in the WWE Universe now expecting the company to make the tag-team division great again.
With Rollins and Strowman leading the charge, WWE could utilize their marketability and star-power to elevate the credibility of the gold, whilst making other contenders look strong.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Since the world of professional wrestling rides high on expectations, these are the 5 refreshing cohesive units that could outshine Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman for the Raw tag-team championships.
#1 AJ Styles and Finn Balor
Even if Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows struggled to outmatch the strength and pace of Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins, the OC could still find a way to get their hands on the gold.
With the free bird rule in place, the Phenomenal One could take charge and coerce Finn Balor to see the bigger picture.
This could very well be the right way for the first-ever Universal Champion to turn heel and join forces with AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, and Karl Anderson.
Even though he has been sidelined from television ever since his defeat to the Fiend, the Extraordinary Irishman returning as a heel and aligning with Styles' heel faction would prove beneficial for him as well as the Raw tag-team championships.
If WWE is indeed planning to turn Strowman heel by the time he collides with Rollins for the Universal Championship, it should be AJ Styles and Finn Balor who make the most of this opportunity.
#2 The Viking Raiders
Another team which could very well be hungry for some gold are the former NXT Tag-Team Champions, the Viking Raiders.
They work pretty well between the ropes and possess all the credentials required to lead the tag-team division with pride and promise.
Considering that they have walked through all the opposition on the red brand, it's about time the company gives them some legitimate competition.
If the logical booking is anything to take into consideration here, then the Viking Raiders must be the first-in-line to make a solid statement at the expense of the current Raw tag-team champions.
Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman's rumored clash for WWE's next PPV could coerce someone to turn heel, and the former NXT tag-team champions could use this opportunity to emerge as the most dominant tag-team on the brand.
#3 Rey Mysterio and Dominic
This is another team that could very well bring some much-needed refreshment to WWE's tag-team division on the main roster.
Rey Mysterio, who has struggled to find his footing lately, was seen in an emotional backstage segment last night, with the Mexican Sensation considering retirement.
However, Mysterio's son, Dominic, emerged and persuaded his father to join forces with him in the squared circle.
With WWE high on making Dominic a star, this could very well be the start of something beautiful. Mysterio and Dominic showcasing their in-ring chemistry and raising their status on the main roster could get them a future title shot.
The father-son duo winning the Raw tag-team championships could bolster Dominic's career and bring some rejuvenation to the tag-team division.
#4 Drew Mcintyre and Baron Corbin
Whilst I do know that legions in the WWE Universe would want to see Drew McIntyre find his way on the main roster as a singles performer, creative do not have anything significant lined up for him.
Even though he could be the deciding factor in the King of the Ring tournament, the Scottish Psychopath deserves to have a legitimate run on Monday Night Raw.
WWE Creative could capitalize on Baron Corbin's nuclear heat and push them to bring some relevance to the tag-team division. This will certainly open up some fresh feuds on the main roster, with McIntyre and Corbin leading the charge and taking care of the tag-team division.
Since they do have a storied rivalry with Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman, there's a possibility for the duo to outshine the current Raw tag-team champions.
#5 Sami Zayn and Cesaro
It's a damn shame that despite being two of the very best in the business, Sami Zayn and Cesaro are yet to grab WWE's proverbial brass ring.
The duo gave us barn-burners under Triple H's supervision, and if provided with the right creative direction, they could do the same on the main roster.
Judging by the way Zayn has been presented on television, his post-match reaction last time out appeared like the company could be looking to make some alterations in his direction moving forward.
Perhaps the best way to rectify the wrongs would be to align him with someone as talented as Cesaro, with the two bringing some much-needed respect and pride to the tag-team division.
One cannot deny that they are criminally underrated, and with Cesaro already having some quality experience in the tag-team division, he could help Zayn grab his first championship on the main roster.
