#1: Randy Orton threatened to take away Alexa Bliss from The Fiend Bray Wyatt during an excellent showcase of psychological storytelling; Who is manipulating whom in this WWE storyline?
Although The Fiend and Randy Orton's feud played out in a short segment on WWE RAW this week, A Moment of Bliss with Alexa Bliss and Randy Orton focused on the rich subtext behind this storyline.
Randy Orton is a master of mind games, and he has exposed Bray Wyatt's weaknesses in the past. From The Viper's perspective, the voices in The Fiend's head stem from Bray Wyatt's mental scars after having been betrayed by Randy Orton.
Although The Fiend doesn't talk at all, WWE fans know that his motive is to torment The Viper after what the latter did to Bray Wyatt. From The Fiend's perspective, he is in control of the Randy Orton feud and Alexa Bliss.
This is where Bliss fits into the picture. "Who is manipulating who?" is what Bliss said to Orton when The Fiend was about to arrive this week.
She was the only WWE character in this segment who came across as least vulnerable, while The Fiend's vulnerabilities became clear as day as he didn't want Orton to hurt Bliss.
Randy Orton's cockiness may make him think that he can manipulate The Fiend just like Bray Wyatt. But Alexa Bliss could secretly be in control of every chess piece in this scenario.
While the aforementioned subtext may have been a bit too complex for an average viewer to grasp at that moment, The Fiend and Randy Orton's storyline is definitely going to include psychological warfare, judging by this week's episode of WWE RAW.
This would be the perfect time to strap in for what may end up being one of the most bizarre storylines on the road to next year's WrestleMania.
